Simple cheap presents related to relaxing?

NRPDad · 10/12/2018 23:05

So I have a romantic interest I want to buy a small Christmas present for. This coming January will be a very busy period for her (think 8am to 10pm working hours) so I was thinking to get her a selection of small items to help her relax/chill out in her free time. She is a vegan.

I already have a nice little box I can put the stuff in.

So far I have the obvious ideas of:
Vegan chocolate/sweet treats
Bath bomb from lush (vegan/no animal testing)

Any other suggestions? I'm really struggling. What little things would be nice to have when you are chilling out on a weekend after a tough week at work? Or that she could even take to work with her?

What a lovely thought I always welcome scented candles and a face mask to relax. Things ive always found to be popular are a nice bubble bath set, fluffy socks, bath pillow, gel eye mask or a voucher for a manicure or massage. Considerations for things to take to work - hand creams, travel cup, book, hand warmers

Littlelambpeep · 10/12/2018 23:25

That's so sweet. Hot water bottle (some pretty designs) or nice mug. Notepad / nice stationary. I love magazines but maybe they are defunct now. Decent book to read. Candle.

Littlelambpeep · 10/12/2018 23:26

A nice keyring or warm hat would fit the bill

evilharpy · 10/12/2018 23:26

One of my favourite ever presents was an aromatherapy diffuser. You can get one from Amazon for about £20.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/12/2018 23:41

Depending on how intimate you are (you don't need to say!) some massage oil would be lovely but not up on what is suitable for vegans

NRPDad · 10/12/2018 23:58

@akmum18 thanks for all the ideas. I think candles, facemasks and handwarmers all sound good!

@Littlelambpeep I think a hot water bottle could be good, she does complain about being cold in her room. I suspect she would already have one though... Some digging required hmmm 🤔

@Evilharpy thanks for the suggestion! Not sure if she is into that though and I think I'd rather stick to several smaller things and hope that a few of them she is quite pleased with.

@RockingMyFiftiesNot Haha... Not quite there yet I think!

Lush have loads of vegan products. They do lovely bath bombs, body creams etc. They also do nice gift sets. I got my SIL the sleepy set and it’s lovely.

Whyislarryhappy · 11/12/2018 08:21

Suoerdrug do a range if vegan beauty items. Maybe some hand cream, body lotion, ect

HellonHeels · 11/12/2018 09:50

Steer clear of anything made of silk or wool. Many vegans would not wear either of those.

SheldonSaysSo · 11/12/2018 10:20

What about essential oils? Lavender or peppermint are nice to add to the bath or on your pillow. Similarly there are lavender sleep sprays to help you relax at night time. A face mask and maybe a boxset or new film to watch.

thesnailandthewhale · 11/12/2018 19:05

Tropic do lovely vegan stuff, some is pricey but there are inexpensive items too.

NRPDad · 12/12/2018 09:53

@Whyislarryhappy do they have a separate area for vegan stuff or will it be dotted all over the place?

@thesnailandthewhale is that a website or high Street store? Can't say I've heard of it

Tisserand do roll on essential oils and I have the de stress one and the sleep one and they are amazing for relaxing (Amazon and various other places sell them. Think they are a fiver each).

A little book on mindfulness and meditation.

Soy wax scented candle

Anything from The Body Shop as their products are vegan and cruelty free. They have some nice christmassy scented things at the moment.

Burts beeswax lip balms are lovely.

Incense sticks and holder

Sleep eye mask

Sleep pillow spray

thesnailandthewhale · 12/12/2018 16:17

NRPDad ... Tropic is direct selling, a bit like Avon, there are lots of school Mum reps or they can be found at Christmas fairs etc. There is a central website I think if you don't know any local Tropic sellers. I don't sell it by the way, I have bought their bubble baths and love them :)

scatteredglitter · 12/12/2018 16:22

What about some herbal teas and a tea pig / or one of those tea for one tea cups she could bring to work
A small jar of organic vegan friendly honey to use to sweeten it would be thoughtful too

HellonHeels · 12/12/2018 16:59

Beeswax and honey are not usually acceptable to vegans as producing them in any commercial form can cause harm to the bees.

HellonHeels · 12/12/2018 17:02

@NRPDad I think the superdrug own brand products are vegan. The other brands they sell probably aren't.

lirror · 12/12/2018 17:07

Pukka Lavender tea - very relaxing

FairyPenguin · 12/12/2018 17:16

Teapigs teabags.
A good book.
One of those lavender-scented wheat bags that you pop in the microwave for a couple of minutes (hot-water bottle alternative).
Chocolates.
Small bottle of wine or can of pre-mixed gin and tonic.
Crisps/nibbles.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 12/12/2018 17:22

If she's always cold you could buy her some little wrist warmers? They're like title sleeves that just cover your wrist and often have thumb holes to keep your hands warm. They'd be nice and cosy in a soft material (guessing she's not allowed wool?)
Also hand warmers? They look like little ice packs which you crack and they they keep you toasty for ages.

Twirlo · 12/12/2018 17:34

A nice blanket?

NRPDad · 12/12/2018 19:50

Yeah I think beeswax and honey are no nos. She's quite trendy I wouldn't want to pick gloves or wrist warmers or whatever and get it wrong... And she's not into hot drinks (like myself) as far as I'm aware

I think essential oils and wheat bag are good options thanks! I'm getting a bit of a list going for when I go into town to hunt for this stuff next week
