DS is 19, but still quite young for his age. DH and I are discussing whether to still do him a stocking. His 8 year old sister will obviously still be getting one.

At what point do you stop doing them?

Mine are in their 40s and love their Christmas stockings! I have had one every year of my life and I’m 74 now. When dd married, her dh didn’t realise that I would get a stocking ,though he knew I filled them for the others.
That year I had two stockings...the lad’s a keeper!

I wrap stocking presents, though my Mum never did. I find it slows the little suckers down a bit...

My Mum (in her 80s) still makes us stockings and it is the highlight of our Christmas !!! Would give it a go and see how he reacts.
Things he needs anyway (boxers; socks; shower gel; deo)
Something to read ( a book or magazine)
Drinks ( Christmas or craft beers; mini spirits depending on what he likes)
Food stuff - my DS loves peanut butter; Nutella; maple syrup; Nando sauces
Vouchers for somewhere he likes to go (cinema: bowling: pizza express etc)
Lottery ticket
Anything he needs for a hobby ( for my DS sweat bands or sports towel)
Something related to anything else he enjoys eg mugs, t- shirts, key rings

my mum stopped doing stocking s when we were late teens, and then restarted again at some point!
We all do them for our spouses, so I do one for dh and he does one for me.

We have a £2 rule, so it is mainly sweets, headphones, smellies, candles (in mine) etc. Our stockings ar edeliberately quite small, so it doesn't take too much to fill them

Ours are wrapped.
And main presents, even if physically tiny, go under the tree, so that we all open them together, it just gets later as the kids get older!

Mine all get stockings aged 41 down to 20. They get opened in the morning as we have our main present opening after dinner. I tried to stop them a couple of years ago but they were all horrified and said "Oh no Mum, please don't - not the stockings - anything else but not the stockings!" So, I have carried on and probably will always do them. I put all sorts in there I always worry that I won't be able to think of anything new but I always do. They get things like new hairbrush and luxury versions of every day things like shampoo/shower gel/cleansers,a funny book, perfumed candle, chocolate orange, socks, that kind of thing. I must say the cost mounts up when you're doing so many but I do love them.

Some ace ideas here 😁 mine are 15, 17, 19 and still get stocking. I wrap the pressies - selection box, sweets, underwear, dvd, stationery, scratchcard. Going to nick ideas here too

Right, so wrapped or unwrapped. Will probably stick with wrapped.
Shower gels are a good, cheapie idea, thanks.

Father Christmas brings everyone in our house a stocking, so he does dd(17), dh(49), me (45), ddog (10months) and dcat(7).

Every year the elves make dd a new stocking, to tie in with that year's theme.

We love Christmas here, any excuse for merriment 👍🏻
