My mum doesn’t want me to spend much on her for Christmas but I feel I should buy her something, she has been very unwell for the past few month and is signed off work, this has caused her to be depressed as she is usually one of those people who doesn’t sit still (now she can hardly walk without feels my unwell), due to her condition I can’t buy her consumables so a food hamper is out of the question, I suggested a full body massage but she’s not keen on anything like this. Any suggestions of what I can get her?

Etsy do some lovely personalised gifts- what about something personalised? They do lovely prints etc.

What's your budget?

Lovemusic33 · 09/12/2018 17:46

Probably £20 (she will be upset if I spend too much)

Not sure if I have time to order something from Etsy. She has said she doesn’t want me to spend anything, she doesn’t like tat so it has to be something she will get use out of or maybe nice smellies she can use. She doesn’t spend much on herself. She likes handbags but I wouldn’t know which one to buy her as choosing a bag is quite personal (I can remember her spending hours looking at bags when I was a young child), maybe a purse would be easier?

Mani pedi? Even when you're stuck in bed it helps if your nails look good.

Lovemusic33 · 09/12/2018 18:25

She used to file her nails a lot but she doesn’t anymore, she has arthritis upin her hands and hates looking at them (she used to have amazing hands). I have ordered her a leather purse from Yoshi, didn’t want to risk buying a bag as I don’t want to get it wrong. I might get her some nice body lotion, I don’t think she has a bath or I would have got her some bath bombs or something nice to relax her in the bath.

How about a nice blanket/throw? Something that she can use when she isn't feeling her best and doesn't scream sick person gift. I have times of not being able to walk and my friend made me an absaloutly stunning blanket and it makes such a difference. My DH once bought me an electric heat pad and yes it made me feel better but it felt like a sick person gift.

I’d second a nice throw, sherpa one even better.

A throw is a good idea. If DM feels the cold how about a microwave wheat bag. I find it safer than a hot water bottle as I may spill water pouring it in.

Does she have a Kindle? If so, a voucher (books).
Magazine subscription.
Cashmere bed-socks (don't know how much those would be/if they're in your budget).
ITunes voucher.

If she has a smart phone, portable charger would be good, phone case or a purse with attached phone case. A snood, warm shawl, gloves. Boot slippers
