Christmassy activities for young teens

Suggestions for family Christmas activities that young teens would not object to?

This year the DC have said "no" to Christmas craft making and "probably not" to Christmas baking. They don't want to go and see Santa (ok we abandoned that a while ago); they don't want to go and see the town centre decorations; they don't want to go to a Christmas market (granted DH or I don't either); they don't want to go to local NT house for Christmas display and lights.

We are going to the panto and they are still keen to help with putting up the Christmas decorations whilst listening to our cheesy Christmas CD (Grin)

Any other ideas I can introduce now the DC are getting older?

Ice skating if you are lucky enough to have an outdoor (pop up) rink and it's a cold crispy night.

Mine are still into their christmas baking. I haven't bought any biscuits for weeks and so if they want some they know have to bake them! They are also practicing each weekend to decide which ones to make for Christmas presents.

Christmas movies, or even just watching movies as a family has been great in this miserable weather this winter. Homemade popcorn (they make it)

Not really Christmassy, but my 14yo has had a deep clean/ clear out of his bedroom to make room for his Christmas presents - he wants a gaming chair! Win win Grin

Where are you @RedSkyLastNight ?

Christmassy film at the cinema (maybe the nutcracker?)
What about doing a shop for the local food bank together?

To some extent I think you have to expect that they will be less interested in family activities at this age and maybe doing some things as a couple without them if you can.

None of us like doing crafts so that’s out anyway. We do bake a lot, but DD loves it all year round. Christmas market is idea, lay a must, depends if we can make it to Germany.

DD loves decorating, we finished her room, did the living room together apart from the tree which only comes around the 20th. I think it is leading by example, if you are enthusiastic it flows towards them.

I was going to suggest ice skating too. Film together? Fantastic Beasts is good.

Saturnalia festival if you are anywhere near Chester. Ok it's not typically Christmassy but there's Roman gladiators carrying fire torches!
Visit to ski slope (indoor or outdoor!)
Football derby match or horse racing on boxing day.
Ballet?

Dh took dd to watch Christmas Queens tonight!

I think we may have accidentally come across this last year after dds school carol service. The Christmas markets in Chester are nice too.

In fact I’ve just googled and it looks like the dates may co incide again this year.
