I am all out of ideas and am hoping that your ideas might inspire me.

Thank you

Sorry - realise my post was a bit off topic - for my mum for that budget, scarf from National Trust or Oliver Bonas earrings. Pretty wrapping, job done.

coffeekittens · 02/12/2018 00:26

My mum would really appreciate a dressing gown so I’m getting her a nice fluffy plush one (budget was meant to be £10 each this year in my family but I’m going way over that for my mum) from TK Maxx probably. DD is going to decorate a little plant pot as well and plant her a little house plant in it.

Alanamackree · 02/12/2018 07:51

Have you had a look at etsy? When I’m struggling for gift ideas that’s often a great place to get inspiration.

BikeRunSki · 02/12/2018 07:57

I’ve bought DM abd DSis recycled cashmere fingerless gloves from Turtle Doves. They are £26 though.

theredjellybean · 02/12/2018 08:02

I am mum and stepmum in my 50's and I love a magazine subscription.
But mostly just love having my dds and dsds home for Christmas.
My dd when she was a student and had no money, offered to do all the Christmas wrapping, posting etc and after Christmas did all the bed changing and laundry for me as a gift.
That was my best gift!

LizzieSiddal · 02/12/2018 08:02

I’m early 50s and the best present, from my Dds have been photo albums. Its something I never do myself, and they write little messages next to the photos. I really treasure them.

theredjellybean · 02/12/2018 08:03

Photobox calenders under £20 and lovely gift with photos of dg and you on them?

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/12/2018 08:14

I think I will be getting her a plant in a pot and a framed photo of the grandchildren.
She isn’t very materialistic but is quite wealthy, so buying her “stuff” is doubly pointless

UserMe18 · 02/12/2018 08:24

I know it's a cliche but photobooks are easily under £15, my mum loves them as she doesn't have social media.

TeaForTiger · 02/12/2018 08:28

Wax burners and melts. Probably some new slippers too.

MairzyDoats · 02/12/2018 08:33

I've ordered my mum these sheepskin mules and they're so lovely I want to keep them myself! They're slightly over your budget (£29.99) but quality is excellent, as good as £60 ones in John Lewis

PodgeBod · 02/12/2018 09:55

I'm getting her a blanket with sleeves so she can use her tablet and be warm. She used to have one years ago but I think she's forgotten they exist so hopefully she will be pleased.

Tatgalore · 02/12/2018 09:59

I'm giving my mum money this year so not much help.

I second the idea of looking on group on for an afternoon tea voucher.

Or a theatre ticket.

Some nice gloves/scarf/hat

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/12/2018 10:16

A joules top (bought from joules outlet on eBay for £15)

OneStepMoreFun · 02/12/2018 10:22

I'd buy new PJs or fluffy dressing gown and slippers from Primark. You can get two out of three of those for £20 and the quality is just as good as M&S.
Or a relaxation hamper with a good novel by an author or in a genre you know she likes, some good quality bath stuff, a pretty mug and a box of really nice tea, coffee or hot chocolate, depending on her preference.

lanbro · 02/12/2018 10:26

I've got my mum a calendar made with photos of the kids on

PhilipTheLamb · 02/12/2018 10:29

What about Turtle Doves cashmere wrist warmers? They come in about £24, have so many beautiful colours, I have a few pairs and have bought them for my mum in the past and she loves them too.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 02/12/2018 10:39

I think I would get her several small gifts from Joules. There is a 3 for 2 offer on atm.

This would come out slightly over budget but is a nice selection of things:

www.joules.com/Home-Garden/Bath-Body/Hand-Care-Duo/Gift-Set/Bircham-Bloom?id=Z_HNDCREDUO|BRCHBLM

www.joules.com/Home-Garden/Bath-Body/Bag-Of-Essentials/Gift-Set/Bircham-Bloom?id=Z_BGESSNTLS|BRCHBLM

www.joules.com/Women/Accessories/Keyring-And-Fragrance/Gift-Set/Bircham-Bloom?id=Z_KYRNGGIFT|BRCHBLM

Or get one gift that’s right on budget:

www.joules.com/Home-Garden/New-In/Scarf-And-Fragrance/Gift-Set/Bircham-Bloom?id=Z_SCARFGIFT|BRCHBLM

But it’s does depend on whether or not she’s a Joules person in terms of style, and whether she would like and use hand creams and so on.

dementedma · 02/12/2018 10:44

my mum is 83 and getting a lamp,a book, a calendar and a jigsaw puzzle. Together it comes to over £20 because of the lamp but the individual items are all less than £20

whiteroseredrose · 02/12/2018 11:19

I've always got my mum a selection of little things often from TK Maxx then wrap each in tissue in a gift bag a bit like a lucky dip!

Chocolate ginger, a tin of posh nuts, gardeners hand wash, olive oil, a candle...then a couple of different bits one year a marble spoon rest, a wood napkin holder or an olive wood cheeseboard.

She loves that and wants the same this year. Problem is I'm now running out of ideas!

BeaLola · 02/12/2018 12:03

I would buy magazine subscription so she can enjoy all year,
or afternoon tea voucher
or depending on her likes what about 2 tickets (for her & you) to go to cinema & see one of the live screenings they put on eg ballet, King & I etc & you take chocs & mini wine with you - I would have lovedto do this with my Mum
Photo calendar - I do this for my DF & he loves them - in fact if I didn't do one I think he would be upset !

Equimum · 02/12/2018 12:16

I’ve got my mum a £15 book voucher and a box of Ferraro Rocher (her faves).

Yulebealrite · 02/12/2018 12:27

I'm your mum's age and don't need "things"

I'd like you to mock up a "voucher" perhaps on a computer if you have access to one, for an experience that I can do with you.
It could be a cinema trip (actually come to think of it cineworld used to do a gift box with a chocolate reindeer and a voucher for popcorn in a presentation box with the tickets)
Afternoon tea
Lunch
You could do my nails for me
Any other "experience" that you think she might like.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 02/12/2018 15:17

@Lollyice would you mind linking to the bird feeder you bought - my grandad would love that :)

BlueUggs · 02/12/2018 15:21

Me and my brother went halves on a heated throw from Lakeland. £25 each.
My mum is always freezing!
