Horse rider doll and horse needed

DD6 is after a horse riding doll and horse set where the doll can actually sit on the horse with saddle, bridle etc. She wanted the Lottie set but the reviews aren’t great saying its expensive and the doll doesn’t actually stay sat on the horse. The Barbie riding doll and horse is over £50. I can’t really find anything else that doesn’t look like it will fall apart after an hour. Would rather buy something new / boxed as it will be a Christmas gift from a relative not us. Any ideas?

DD has a couple of the Our generation dolls and one of the horses - its a bit bigger than Barbie though. Its not cheap but we got some sort of deal. The doll does sit on the horse, you can brish the hair. The horses box doubles as a stable.

We have a lot of toy horses here... haven’t reliably found one for a doll yet. DD mainly sticks to her model horses and riders, or the playmobil spirit ones.

Julip make riding dolls and horses, plus various other riding related bits

Paddingtonthebear · 28/11/2018 19:19

Thanks.

The Julip horses. Are they more like collector items? Their website says they are not allowed to sell to children Confused

We have the our generation doll and horse. DD plays with it all the time! Really good quality.

Ricekrispie22 · 28/11/2018 19:34

Does she like Breyer?

Phoenixrise · 28/11/2018 19:36

I played with them a lot growing up, as did my friends. I wouldn’t class them as a collectors item. They do come with some small pieces which isn’t ideal with very young children

Paddingtonthebear · 28/11/2018 19:40

Just looked at Breyer, that could work.

Any idea what sort of size they are? Looking for something between Lottie doll and Barbie size ideally.

Breyer or Schleich? Amazon sell various sets which might be what you’re looking for.

anothermansmother · 28/11/2018 19:42

I'd second the our generation girls dolls and horses. Doll is about £30 and the large horse are just under £40. My dd plays with hers all the time, the doll does stay in the horse and they haven't broken are are still immaculate in condition after over 12 months of play.
I've bought the stables and horse box for Christmas.

Honeyroar · 28/11/2018 19:42

How old is she?

The Julip ones used to be lovely. Breyer has taken over a bit.

Cuddley Ponies do a lovely stuffed toy pony that comes with various rugs/bridles/accessories (pretty sure there is a rider) and plaitable manes and tails. They're incredibly cute too. Harper Beckham had one when I saw her.

macnab · 28/11/2018 19:45

Definitely Schleich, my DD recently got one herself it's a horse with the saddle etc and a rider on it. Only thing is the riders limbs don't move so when you take her off the horse she stays in the riding pose, although this doesn't bother my DD at all!

macnab · 28/11/2018 19:47

There's actually quite a few to choose from, this is an example

Paddingtonthebear · 28/11/2018 19:50

She is 6 (last month).

She wants a softer type doll with hair and clothes rather than a hard plastic figurine. I will have a look at the other suggestions.

I wish I had kept my Sindy doll and horse!

In that case the Sindy or Our Generation ones would be ideal (my DD has an OG doll and two horses, they get played with a lot) Only downside is the cost but they are fabulous toys, I suppose it depends on how much you think she'd play with them. Good luck!

Paddingtonthebear · 28/11/2018 19:54

It’s a gift idea from a relative so I think Our Generation will be too expensive. I can’t buy it, we’ve already got her a new bike Grin

Crafty ponies are brilliant - my daughter has learnt how to use tack correctly and it has lots of bits to add to as time goes on. Soft rider doll too. www.craftyponies.co.uk

Honeyroar · 28/11/2018 20:08

I'm wrong, they're called Crafty ponies. Just had a google.. There are so many accessories you could go on forever. They say the saddles, bridles, rugs etc attach and are put together like real ones. Ponies come in all colours.

Hi we have some Lottie dolls. They are really lovely.

Tbh I don't think any rider doll really stays on their horse that well.

I bought the horse rider Lottie doll, and the set of 4 horses from b&m, the set in a pretend stable. The scale is perfect.

However on the b&m app it looks like they have the same set this year- as unicorns! Trendy but not exactly realistic eh.

My generation dolls are huge! Really really big!

Alanamackree · 28/11/2018 21:12

The Baby Born horse is lovely and their dolls can sit in it. It even walks and neighs.
I don’t think Smyths stock them anymore and they are pricey on amazon but if second hand was an option there are a few on eBay.
They are really lovely and a bit more age appropriate for a 6 year old than the OG range.

SolemnlySwear2010 · 29/11/2018 10:26

If she is looking for a Barbie type - look at Sparkle Girlz instead. Very similar but cheaper - we got the horse and cart set for our DD this year, think we paid about £20 from Asda.

Schleich id say are the most popular just now and u can build that collection.was another post on them not long ago.this make does last they never get old looking x
