Magic tracks or glow tracks anyone?

Just wondered if anyone had experience of either Magic Tracks or Glow Tracks? They tend to get good reviews but with a few negative ones thrown in (doesn't everything!) Does anyone know the difference between them?

I'm keen to get something really awesome that DS (nearly 3) will love and this fits the bill, on paper. Just don't want to spend £30ish on rubbish....

Any views would be welcome!

Santa brought magic tracks for our 5 year old last year (so he was 4 at the time) and he still loves playing with them. They are also very popular when other kids call around - they love them.

I love them because they are easily stored away when finished - they're so easy to put together and take apart that you don't need to leave them out all the time.

I'd recommend them, especially for that age. The batteries in the cars last a while too.

My DS had magic tracks last year. he's nearly 4 now. they get played with occasionally. They dont glow in the dark btw, it's the lights from the cars that light them up. I guess he finds it abit dull that they just go round on their own so not much for him to do apart from build the track which he finds too hard to click together at the mo.

My 3 year old had magic tracks for his birthday. He loved them when he opened them and for the first week or so but hasn't been at all bothered since then. As pp says, they can't really do all that much with them and he prefers building the tracks with brio or toot toot, or more imaginative play with a 4 storey garage thing we got him. That was only about £30 actually and does still get played with every day.

The magic tracks are ok. Requires an adult to click the track bits together and then the cars just go by themselves. My two will play with the. If we set it up and make tunnels out of Lego or make the track go under the kitchen table etc. But they need me to set it up and rejig the track as we go. And it doesn't glow in the dark, the cars just light up.

Thanks everyone. Choosing between magic tracks and the Paw Patroller...

I'd go for the paw patroller.. we have the big lookout tower about 18 months ago and it's played with daily.I think paw patrol stuff is great because you can get more bits for birthdays etc plus there's reasonable resale on them if your son loses interest in a few years.

I’d opt for paw patrol too. My kids had the track thing and it was a hit for about a week and then not really played with since. The paw patrols toys have been played with for years and I’m still not allowed to pass them on now and my son is 8
