Big but cheap presents

Hi all,

Need a little help! My parents are spending Xmas day with us this year, are looking to buy my DSS (5) an xmas present & have asked for suggestions.
I don't want to ask them to spend loads of money as tbh DSS would much rather be climbing trees than playing with toys Smile

However, they are adamant that they want to get him something 'big' (because when you're 5 the size of the box is very important, haha!) so he feel parts of the family. I'm completely stumped about what to suggest!

Thank you for suggestions!

I don't know how to edit, but forgot to add he's a 5yo boy Smile

Something for the garden - rope ladder of spin disc for the tree. A space hopper or a football goal.

Den building kit or a teepee?

KittyMcTitty · 26/11/2018 17:20

A scooter - you can find really reasonably priced ones. That’s outdoorsy!
Teepee? Can use it in the garden in summer too?

If they have a B&M near them op there's loads of 2 for £20 toys in store at the moment-stunt cars, drones, playsets, large kits of XBlocks (a good lego copy) and large character craft boxes.

Cardboard colour in playhouses. They are half price at hobbycraft right now.

I'd go for something like a hot wheels car track where the cars zoom off the end (can't think of the name) it's an active fun toy.

I second scooter. Dds was only about 20 and we've had so much use out of it and looked impressive.

If you have an Ikea near my ds loves his giant cuddly shark toy. Looks big but only cost about £10. He’s 8 now and has it on his bed and uses as a floor cushion. They also have giant snakes for £8.

IKEA also does a big easel for about £20. I thought mine had outgrown it but since starting reception they love playing 'teacher'!

Thank you so much, these are all great ideas! I'll mention them to my parents and let them choose Smile

My 5 year old still loves her bean bag that she's had for a few years now

I bought Ds a gigantic box of kinetic sand today - there might be other things inside like moulds etc. It was £14.99 from Bnm. Looks really substantial.

Ez fort (my ds5 loves this)
Gorilla gym for doorway ( great when too wet to climb trees)
