Oh great thread
We have smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast around 8am (2 super excited DCs mean we never get a lie in). DS has toast with pate as he can't have fish. I make the bread myself the day before.

We will then have (which I prep the day before) at 1pm
A medium turkey with bacon and sausage meat stuffing
Roasted honey carrots and parsnips
Roasted spuds
Home made Yorkshires
Giblet gravy
I make an extra stuffing different to the one in the turkey, last year it had white pudding instead of sausage meat
Pigs in blankets (although I'm lucky if I get one as these to the DC are the bit they love most, far more than turkey and veg)
We then have something extra so I'm making a beef Wellington this year which will probably be eaten on boxing day

We don't have pudding as none of us like it, but around 7pm, we have turkey sandwiches, and the kids usually have selection boxes to pick at and crisps.

Works for us and with DS and his allergies I make an awful lot myself to save a Christmas day reaction.

Verbena87 · 26/11/2018 12:02

So far we know there’ll be a joint of English Longhorn beef from a friend (bloody glorious), and something chocolatey afterwards! Am slightly in awe of your planning!

I have made and been feeding our Christmas cake, and made figgy booze mincemeat for mince pies, so that counts, maybe?!

Verbena87 · 26/11/2018 12:02

*boozy

Stringofpearls · 26/11/2018 12:10

Well be having bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Then we'll have traditional Turkey Christmas dinner at lunch with a choice of raspberry pavlova or millionaires tart with cream, melted choc sauce or ice cream for pudding. For the rest of the day there will just be highly bits, such as crisps and dip, salad bits, cooked ham, cold turkey, nice bread, baked camembert etc, but most of this ends up being used on boxing day!

AnarchyKitty · 26/11/2018 12:13

It's just myself and my partner so we are going to pig out on party food all day . Grin

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 26/11/2018 12:17

Just DH, DB (who usually comes to ours) and me this Xmas as it's DD's year at her dad's 😢 (don't begrudge either of them it but I don't half miss her).

We are having turkey even if it's just the 3 of us (I make a damn fine post Xmas turkey pie) but we're going full thanksgiving this year:

Maple and bacon turkey
Cornbread
Super creamy mash
Green bean casserole
Sweet potato pie
Cranberry sauce
Pecan pie

Will cook up some chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets and braised red cabbage as well - hardly traditionally thanksgiving but cant do without them.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/11/2018 12:26

Eggs Benedict for brekkie

Prawn torpedo things from Waitrose with aioli

Rib of beef
Potato dauphinois
Cabbage/Brussels/pancetta
Pigs in blanket
Gravy

Xmas pud

Champagne

Chocolate to be grazed on all evening

CANNOT WAIT!

Spam88 · 26/11/2018 12:28

We're hosting fake Christmas next Saturday, menu I'm planning is as follows:

Arrival: mulled wine/fruit punch and crisps

Turkey, beef and gammon
Pigs in blankets
Stuffing x2
Roast potatoes
Roasted carrots and parsnips
Sprouts
Green beans
Braised red cabbage
Yorkshire puddings
Plenty of fizz

Dessert:
Mince pies
Either Yule log or the amazing looking chocolate and ginger cake from Tesco (if they ever get it in stock)
And here I struggle...I'd like a Christmas pudding but we have someone with a bit allergy coming

Followed by a massive cheeseboard that probably won't even make it out of the fridge, as is tradition.

IShitGlitter · 26/11/2018 12:29

wow these menu sound great! Love the party food all day idea....I did suggest this to our family who were outraged about no Christmas dinner Shock but i dont mind so much I love hosting.

We usually have:

Turkey
Bacon over the joint
Bacon rolls
Bacon and mini sausage rolls
Mini sausages
Stuffing (as per my gran's recipe) both inside and outside the turkey if at all possible)
Roast Potatoes
Roast Parsnips
Batter puddings
New potatoes or mash or maybe both (depends on if the new potatoes get overcooked and need mashing too Grin
Brussels Sprouts
Mashed swede
Broccoli
Extra fine green beans
Peas
Baby sweetcorn
Carrots
Gravy from the cooking juices
Cranberry sauce

Christmas pud
Brandy butter (made by my mum to her old recipe from the 70s that uses soft brown sugar instead of white sugar and is still the nicest brandy butter I've ever had anywhere)

Having said that... Last year we were so full we didn't eat the xmas pud and I've just realised that we never did - it's still sitting in the depths of the kitchen shelves somewhere... Hmmm. Wonder if it will still be ok for this year... Xmas Grin

(and @CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger - intrigued by your having cornbread... What is it exactly and how do you make it as I love corn!)

GoldenCurls · 26/11/2018 12:50

I love looking at what everyone else is having! We’re at my mum’s for Christmas Day. I help out with some of the prepping, but she pretty much deserves all the credit! There will be 5 adults and a dog.

Posh bacon butties (made with pancetta) and Buck’s Fizz for breakfast.

Soup or prawn cocktail starters. We usually have turkey and beef with all the trimmings:
Pigs in blankets
Sprouts
Carrots
Parsnips
Broccoli
Stuffing
Roasties
Yorkshire puddings
My nan makes the gravy!

We usually buy desserts. My nan will make a Christmas pudding, and I have my eyes on the M&S chocolate and salted caramel pudding that we got last year which was divine. There’s usually a cheesecake as the “lighter” option.

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 26/11/2018 12:56

Here you go rosablue:

https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3330/cornbread-wedges

It's essentially a savoury cake, goes brilliantly with chilli and is an essential component of thanksgiving dinner (I'm not American BTW although do have a lot of American family).

Ooh, love seeing what everyone else is having!

We're having Coquille St Jacques to start, then:

Roast turkey crown with stuffing
Roast gammon
Roast potatoes
Roast carrots, parsnips and Jerusalem artichokes if I can find them anywhere this year
Brussels with hustle (Jamie Oliver)
Broccoli and cauliflower cheese
Buttered leeks
Red cabbage
Broad beans and peas
Yorkshire puds and Gravy

My mum is bringing dessert so who knows, I'm hoping something chocolatey!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/11/2018 18:03

I"m doing three Christmas dinners this year, no idea what I'll actually have on Christmas day (will be by myself, which I'm looking forward to) but, the first one I'm doing (end of this week) is looking like:

French onion soup

Roast chicken (couldn't get any turkey at the weekend)
Gammon

Sage and onion pork stuffing balls
Ginger cake stuffing

Potato dauphinouse
Roast tatties
Roast carrots
Roast parsnips
Yorkshire puds

Sauteed Brussel sprouts with bacon and chestnuts
Cauliflower
Broccoli
Green beans

Gravy
Cranberry sauce
Bread sauce

Chocolate cheesecake with cream

The other two will probably be very similar to the above
