Is there such a thing? Our 7 year old is desperate for a model train set and has grown out of the trackmaster but hornby is too pricey and complicated

I’ve seen a “My First Hornby” set for sale recently.

We’ve not bought it, so I’ve not seen it in action, but it seems to be aimed at children, so may be worth checking out?

We’ve got the My First Hornby. It’s easy to set up and quite robust but not as much fun as trackmaster. It feels grown up and suits us as it keeps younger DS occupied when we get the proper Hornby out.

Can you extend the track? I’ve just read some fairly bad reviews but also some good ones so feel a bit lost!

If they sell extra track it would definitely be easily done. It’s just a bit dull - with the trackmaster sets there’s more functionality and fun. We’ve got a JCB/CAT train track set that is fun. Can’t find a link but it was in a huge box with lots of vehicles.

The lego train set? It’s pricey but v good.

We have My First Hornby. It’s utter pants! My son hates it, as it’s biring and all it does is go round a circle. The tunnel and the station is made from cardboard. It’s not great value for money at all
