It's secret Santa and I've drawnsomeone who pretty much the only thing I know about her is she crochets, recently taught herself. Is there a £15 Gift that would be prefect ?

I need to know this for my mum!

MouseRatFan · 24/11/2018 21:12

I bought some lovely crochet stitch markers from ebay for my cousin.

mrsdaz · 24/11/2018 21:14

When I was learning crochet I bought a book on different edgings. I know it doesn’t seem exciting to most but I loved it and practiced different edges on different blankets.

You could get this and the some wool or patterns dependent on her taste (blankets, soft toys, tablecloths etc).

Crochet hooks are hit and miss as I prefer a certain style to hold...she may or may not do though so you could get a chunky hook set?

How about a Toft kit, I don't crochet but have admired them at shows and they assured me they were easy

I wouldn't buy crochet hooks. Everyone has their favourite and it's so peronsal.

I'd get some stitch markers or some nice scissors.

NotMeNoNo · 24/11/2018 21:25

Or maybe one of their books

Jinglebells99 · 24/11/2018 21:25

Some of my favourite crochet accessories are clover knitting counter mini kacha-kacha, Clover Yarn Cutter Pendant , and hiya hiya puppy snips. Clover amour crochet hook size 3.5 mm or 4 mm or knit pro locking stitch markers. These are all available from amazon. Could also get some crochet diva stitch markers.

mrsdaz · 24/11/2018 21:27

Aww love those toft kits! Expensive though for a pattern but I bet they look so nice!

CosimaNiehaus · 24/11/2018 21:27

Depending on if she's geeky too you can get crochet kits for different doll sets - crochet your own Star Wars characters etc. It's a book, the wool and everything you need and I picked one up in the book section of Tesco for £12.

Meet0nTheIedge · 24/11/2018 21:29

I'd avoid hooks too, I hate the Addi Swing mentioned above for example. Yarn bowl is a great suggestion, I saw some nice wooden ones linked somewhere recently. Extra project bags are always useful, as are small scissors.

Theweasleytwins · 24/11/2018 21:31

The Works do cheap crochet books. Do you know if she makes toys?
Maybe a nice selection of wool? B and M do some really glittery ones which ive seen many other hookers use

Theweasleytwins · 24/11/2018 21:32

Im sure aldi have mickey/mini amigurumi kits and also crochet ornament kits at the moment

CosimaNiehaus · 24/11/2018 22:10

@TheWeasleyTwins The Mickey/Minnie Amigurumi kits sound awesome. Going to try and hunt some down myself!

Alanamackree · 25/11/2018 07:42

If she appreciates good wool blends (not acrylic) then a ball of a nice blend or pure wool would be lovely. But if she’s starting off she might not have discovered the difference.

A voucher for a wool shop is definitely something that I would love!

Another vote for a yarn bowl - they are very stylish . Flying tiger have them sometimes or you can get them on Etsy

Jessica78 · 25/11/2018 07:44

I bought the MIL a lovely yarn bowl from Etsy a couple of years back. She uses it daily.

Meet0nTheIedge · 25/11/2018 11:24

A wool shop voucher would be a good idea. I'd rather not be given balls of wool as the chances of it being the right amount for a project are slim, also actual wool makes me itch, I can crochet with it but not wear it.

akmum18 · 25/11/2018 12:08

The works and hobbycraft sell sets/books or you could make a hamper

Knittedfairies · 25/11/2018 12:35

A crochet hook roll - there are some pretty ones on Etsy.

Willofthesimpletons · 26/11/2018 01:44

This one is nice too, The Works have it for £4 vs £9.99 at Amazon. www.theworks.co.uk/p/adult-colouring-books/cutest-crochet-creations/9786059192347

Tattybear16 · 26/11/2018 01:45

Definitely a project bag, keeps all her crafty items together, and makes it easier for her to transport it so she can work anywhere.
