Barbie doll

My DD (5) has recently got into Barbie thanks to Netflix and school friends.
She now wants to get a collection of these horrendously expensive dolls for Christmas, including all of the sisters. Is there anywhere I can buy them all in a group? Like a basic barbie starter pack? Any help would be very gratefully received!

(I keep trying to push Lottie Dolls but DD is having none of it)

I'd suggest just buying one sort of set at a time, that way you can then buy others for birthday, next Christmas etc.

For example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Barbie-DGW22-Glam-Pool/dp/B014DEHDZI/ref=mpssa112?ie=UTF8&qid=1543083895&sr=8-2-spons&pi=ACSX2366SY340QL65&keywords=Barbie&psc=1

Oh fab thank you so much for looking!

Spreading them out might be a good way to go. She's a March birthday so wouldn't have to wait for ages for any missed bits.

@SmallBee places like Sainsbury's and Tesco do them for about £9.75 real barbies too. The fashonishta ones are cheap everywhere atm x

RebelWitchFace · 24/11/2018 19:29

Would she be swayed into the Steffi Love collection? Cheaper, lots of different playsets with accessories and shops like the Entertainer have really good prices on them in the sale(for example little sister with mum dog and pups and some accessories was £3 in their Boxing day sale).

If not, start small and build up. Get some bits for Christmas, some for her birthday, maybe raid some charity shops/car boot sales if she has pocket money etc. There are also lots of bundles of clothes and accessories always for sale on ebay.

Some Barbie stuff on sale.

A lot is out of stock atm but you can keep an eye out for the next sale.

eBay is your friend

SchoolNightWine · 24/11/2018 19:40

Aldi have 2 sets in at the moment - £14.99 each.

LittleSwede · 25/11/2018 07:42

TkMaxx have a few Barbies on sale, a basic one for about £6 and some Dreamworld ones at around £12-15 I think.

RLOU30 · 25/11/2018 07:48

eBay!

RLOU30 · 25/11/2018 07:49

Or Shpock. Depending where you live, Shpock is full of cheap bargains. New in the box barbies in my area are coming up at least half price- download and take a look!

Nitpickpicnic · 25/11/2018 07:54

Or hold strong to your principles. It doesn’t kill daughters to live a barbie-free life. Mine got a bit stroppy sometimes, but got her fill on playdates. It’s not an issue now that she’s 7.

You might find you’re not the only mum doing the barbie-ban.

mnahmnah · 25/11/2018 07:56

Could you buy one and ask relatives to get one each? We’re doing that with Harry Potter Lego as it’s so expensive

BillywilliamV · 25/11/2018 07:59

John Lewis have a pattern book for making Barbie clothes, if youre any good at that sort of thing.
. Also you can grab them from charity shops or boot sales, hand me downs, school fetes, etc.
We had enough for a full wedding party- bridesmaids, bestman, vicar etc. and a congregation of over 20 and Ive never bought a new one in my life.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 25/11/2018 08:04

Wilko has them for £9 each and the barbie battery toothbrush is half price at £3.50

Reckles5serenade · 25/11/2018 08:23

Barbie Fashionistas are 2 for £15 at Argos and the Kens are too. I like the fashionistas because of the diversity of the skin and hair colours and the different body types.
Argos eBay store is also worth checking.

StyleOfTheTimes · 25/11/2018 08:39

I got my niece a set of three from Argos. Each one has different coloured hair and outfits. Do they have to be new in box? If not then eBay is a gold mine. You just need to clean the dolls with dettol and their good to go. You could always put them in a nice gift box. Or even set them up for your daughter to find on Christmas morning?

BB8sm8 · 25/11/2018 09:26

Hunt eBay and set the sorting to nearest first, esp in the run up to Xmas you will find loads of brilliant bundles going dirt cheap, I haven’t boght any Barbie stuff new, it’s all from eBay & is in brilliant condition.

akmum18 · 25/11/2018 09:36

Smyths have sets of 4 dolls for £30 usually my daughter has had one every Christmas. Amazon prices change regularly so you can get the fashionista dolls for £5 sometimes. There’s also Argos 3 for 2.

SolemnlySwear2010 · 28/11/2018 11:43

My DD aged 4 has started being into Barbies recently. We have bought her the Sparkle Girlz out of Asda to make sure she actually played with them. They are fab quality, look like proper Barbies and are much cheaper!! She actually prefers these to her actual Barbies now.

They also do a set of the 'little' dolls that are sisters etc
