Cordless vacuum as a Christmas present?

I have bought my parents a small token present each for Christmas. I then want to buy them a present between them. I'm undecided about a hotel voucher or a cordless vacuum as they live in a small 2 bed flat I figured this might be handy for a quick runaround. They're not big into nights away either but I know they'd use a voucher if I bought them one just not sure how they'd feel about a Hoover? What would you personally go for?

I'm 51 and live trips away, but I want a cordless vac.

So it depends on if they want one and they are both the type to appreciate gifts for the house, rather than a treat.

You could buy one closer to Christmas or from somewhere with extended returns and see how they like it, with you being OK with taking it back?

Ratger than hotel vouchers would they go to the pictures or meals out vouchers etc?

I want a cordless vac or better still one of those hand held dyson triggers.
I would much rather practical presents than experience type presents.

Have they ever expressed a desire for better vacuuming or a disatisfaction for the current arrangement?

I know my sister has bought a cordless vac for my mum for christmas!
I have one and would never be without one again, its soo handy.

No they never expressed any desire to get one. In fact when my mum stayed for a few days I used it directly in front of her to see whether it would peak any interest. On saying that though they'd never express any desire to go away either. Ive bought it anyway as it was on offer for Black Friday and sure worst case closer to the time I can return it. Seems like the majority wouldn't be offended in receiving a cordless Hoover so that's a plus Grin

Hmmm I remember thinking I would buy my mum a new iron for Xmas, she later admitted she would have hated it. So I would never buy anyone a gift which related to chores

Unless you know your df will use it 50/50 yabu!

The cordless vac. It shows thought and they will probably get a lot more use from it.

Sadly I would love a cordless vac - especially the dyson. I tried it and it's good.

TrickyD · 24/11/2018 18:52

I would love a cordless vac, and those who would actually use it, i.e. DH and our cleaner, would be equally pleased. Xmas Grin
