Help me! I threw away the Xmas lights last year as they was really old and probably unsafe (was 15 years old passed down).
I cannot remember how many lights was on their was it 200? Or 500?!
I know nobody can answer this but how many do you have for a 6ft artificial tree Confused

Hi, anything from 200-300 standard line lights. Depends on personal taste and type of lights.

Jbck · 23/11/2018 20:21

How fat is your tree? Id go for around 400 unless it was very slim.

Mrsfussypants1 · 23/11/2018 20:23

Oh and we've got 2 6ft trees. One has 240 standard line lights , though i will buy 300 if I see any on offer. The other has 100, recently bought from next, they are multi coloured large retro bulb ones and anymore wouldn't suit tree due to there size and brightness. Sainsbury's had 240 on offer, think that's a good amount.

Tattybear16 · 23/11/2018 20:26

300, 500 if you want to be able to see it from space. M&S had some lovely ones last week.

girlinleeds · 23/11/2018 21:06

we have 750 on a 7.5ft tree and it sounds like its far to many but it does look amazing

anitagreen · 23/11/2018 21:23

Ooh this is so exciting! I think I'll go for the 500 ones or 400. It was quite thick actually but for the past 11 months I've been ramming the pram into when I put the pram away in the shed , without realising the tree was in the box , so it's probably paper thin now 🤦🏽‍♀️ I try and fluff it back out though hopefully!!x

More than you think you need..I was in a hardware shop today and they said 4-600 for a 6ft tree.

I was going to buy some new ones butpinching the ones from outside (39ft) for the tree.

A few years ago ours went just before Christmas...OH ran off to the shop and bought back a set that were quite short (only ones left). He ended up going back again then again and bought two more sets.

Cue the last couple of years him fighting a loosing battle to try and co-ordinate the sequence on the lights Grin

Agree with PP, more than you think. I'm a fan of the 'cluster' ones (Lights4Fun).

anitagreen · 24/11/2018 00:28

@Oldraver that is what my husband would do lol, I've just seen 400 fairy lights for £4 in sports direct out of all places so I'll get two boxes tomorrow Grinx

Ohhhh Ive juat ordered 1000 warm white lights for my 7ft tree... wondering if Ive gone overboard now...

TrickyD · 25/11/2018 12:38

Bakewell, I was just wondering the same about our 8ft tree. I bought a string of 800 in the Homebase closing sale. The usual rule of thumb is 100 per foot of height so hoping they will be OK.

anitagreen · 25/11/2018 12:40

Update I put 280 on as I couldn't get any 400-600 anywhere last minute as we wanted the tree up yesterday. My tree is actually not as full as I remember so we've got away with just 280. But defo will be purchasing a new tree in the new year sale!

Hmmmm mine is definately going to be visable from space then Grin Best put some further inside the branches...

MissMarplesKnitting · 25/11/2018 13:30

If they're titchy LED ones 500 ish. They can get lost a bit.

Less if they're more traditional larger bulbs.

Angelinthenight · 25/11/2018 14:12

Id go for 500 i think we have 500/600 for our 6ft ,i like alot of lights x
