Oh wise and inventive MNers. I need advice of what Christmas related poncery I can put in the alcove of my living room. Previous years I've moved the small table into the alcove and plonked a 2ft fiber optic tree on top. Said tree is kaput now so what wonderful delights can I put in it's place?

My big tree is in the dining room and I don't have the room to store a second large one so I was thinking something small and putting fairy lights around the curved bit at the top? I don't know what that "something small" could be though.

Please delight and enthrall me with your fantastically festive ideas? Grin

I'm sorry but I would have to buy another tree because that alcove is just crying out for one Grin

How about getting one from a charity shop then donating it back after Christmas if you don't have the space to store it? Or one of those pop-up ones that go down absolutely tiny.

Otherwise, what about one of those curtains of lights hung across the alcove? But personally I would get another tree....

Omg a pop-up tree! I hadn't even thought about that! Shock

Argos are doing a third off two slim ones. I can't decide if I want a white or green one. The tree in the dining room is green with fake snow on it.

How crafty are you? Could you manage a flat Christmas tree made of sticks/ branches/ garland?

They look loooovely Alanamackree
Unfortunately I'm not crafty at all. In the slightest. Mine would look nowhere near as good as this if I tried it. Blush

In your situation I would get a pop up tree as suggested by the pp. I would personally go for white but only because I want a white one but the rest of the household have vetoed it.

Emul · 22/11/2018 16:08

I am so tempted to get the white and the green Grin one for the alcove and one for the landing upstairs. Mr Emul would go absolutely nuts!! Halo

I should never have posted this. I didn't even know pop-up trees were a thing and now I want one for every room in the house Grin

Badtasteflump · 22/11/2018 16:54

Yes get a pop up tree OP - or two - you know you want to Grin

A salon I go to have a slimline popup tinsel tree - looks surprisingly good and can't have cost v much. Shiny enough that no fairy lights are needed although you can never have too many fairy lights if you ask me
