Advent calendar for 13 year old boy

I've bought a smiggles calendar for dd but I'm struggling to find anything for my ds. He's a bit geeky into ww1 and ww2 his xbox and starwars but any starwars I've seen is slightly too young for him.

All suggestions appreciated. I'm about to finish a night shift so might not get back to this thread until this evening

My 13 year old son likes his dairy milk chocolate calendar after attempts at something more interesting in previous years. So he is getting that and is not jealous of his sisters’ bracelet making or make up collecting versions.

MamMamMam · 22/11/2018 07:47

I agree that he won't be jealous. He won't give a fig about her calender but I like to spend equally.
I might give a chocolate calendar and £10 if I can't find something

We have just bought my geeky almost 12 year old the Haynes advent calendar. You open out different electronic components each day and by the end can make 12 different games. Called the Haynes electronic games advent calendar and available from Amazon.

Have you seen the Haynes advent calenders there are 3 of them we really liked the radio one where you make your own radio doing electronic experiments. I think you get them from Debenhams.

Have you seen the Lego calendar? If he’s into Lego it’s cool!

dementedpixie · 22/11/2018 07:55

Mine get the lindt chocolate calender. They do one at £5 and one at £10. Mine get the £5 one

I was having the same problem with ds1 as he’s not so much into the Lego ones anymore although still plays with the pile of Lego we have. Someone in here suggested I gave him £1 a day he loves this idea.
I’ve bought an empty advent calendar from hobbycraft and a couple of bets of chocolate and will stick the £1 coin and chocolate together and pop them in.

Sometimes life just isn’t fair. Spend a bit more on his Christmas present if it makes you feel better but again he probably won’t notice. We did the expensive lint bear one one year but he prefers the taste of dairy milk. 🤷‍♀️

I am sure some £1 coins would be well received on the other hand but does seem a bit not in the spirit somehow- although Father Christmas usually brings one so why not!

AlexanderHamilton · 22/11/2018 11:03

My 14 year old requested the Star Wars lego calender as some of the figures are limited edition.

EvaHarknessRose · 22/11/2018 11:04

Why not get a stack of his favourite chocolate bars (mini) and just give him the pile to take one every day? He might appreciate the straightforwardness of it.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 22/11/2018 11:10

Ds1 is a bit of a saver for things he wants so £1 a day will go towards his savings currently a Nintendo switch and so he has spending money for a trip to New York he wants us to take him on in two years time Hmm
I don’t see how it’s less in the spirit than Lego or playmobil Which we have done in previous years. At least this way we don’t end up with more plastic we don’t need and he ends up with something he wants.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/11/2018 11:17

Sorry to have implied that and and poured cold water on your plan - the more I think about the better it sounds. No collection of 24 bits of plastic but still the magic each morning like the tooth fairy I guess.
