Hi, I have 2 DD’s 8 and 6. The older one has asked for a chocolate lolly maker, can anyone suggest a similar present for the younger one? I have looked at the chocolate coin maker and sprinkle stixs but these don’t seem to have very good reviews. Don’t really want anything electrical. Thanks.

I’m not sure about kits, but could you buy some fancy cake or cookie mixes and put some accessories like cutters, or toppers and things with it?

I got a kit for cake decoration (flowers, stars etc.) and a big pack of ready to roll icing for my little one. Essentially like making playdoh shapes but edible when done.

Some of the jars with premixed cake/cookie mixture? Then some nice cutters/decorations

Chocolate lolly makers are really crap. Ours is languishing in a cupboard, been used once in two years.

Can you talk them out of it? Maybe buy separate bits to do the same sort of thing?

I personally wouldn't buy a toy/set. Instead I'd get each of them a mixing bowl and wooden spoon and then fill the bowl with icing tubes, sprinkles, maybe some boxed cake mixes, fairy cake cases, chocolate drops etc so they can do 'proper' baking.

Ready roll icing a great idea too.

Thanks for the suggestions. We already do lots of real baking and decorating cakes. I’m sure the lolly maker won’t be used that much but she’s been asking for over a year and managed to get one cheap so it won’t matter if it’s only used a few times.

A popcorn maker?

I know they're generally mains powered, but they are so child friendly.

My six year old loves hers, they are great for movie nights and things.

My dd has a popcorn maker but it was electric
Tbh we still have it 12 years on and it’s really good

Not sure if this is what you are after, but a slushy maker? Put in the freezer, add juice/squash/pop, and sushi until it makes a slush puppy.
