DD is 7 nearly 8. She loves books but can prefers short stories to longer books, we've tried Road Dahl and the like but she just wont follow the story ( she has SEN).
She enjoys Usborne short story books and we've started on the Rainbow Magic Beginner reader series. These are OK but a bit fairy mad for her ! Any suggestions please for her list? She likes pirates, unicorn dragons ..
As she additional needs family and friends really struggle with gifts so I'm hoping to get a list at a local book shop of titles he would really enjoy. TIA

The book people have the my little pony collection and that may be ok?

My DD started reading the Daisy series of books by Kes Gray at that age. They're really funny and can be read independently or with her. No pirates or unicorns but I'd definitely recommend them- particularly the piggy bank and kittens ones!

Beast quest? I always think of them as the 'boy' version of rainbow fairy Grin

There's an American series called Zoey and Sassafrass which has magical creatures in it. My daughter really likes them.

My DD and I have just read all the Ottoline books, which we've really enjoyed. They're like graphic novels for kids so there are loads of gorgeous pictures.

How to train your dragon, beast quest or sea quest?

Can I please suggest Pippy Longstocking

Not what you asked but this worked for my dd. It didn't turn her into an avid reader but it helped her to know what she wanted and was willing to try so much more. My dd has learning difficulties.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm off to check them out.

The Royal Babysitters series by Clementine Beauvais is hilarious.

The Rescue Princesses series by Paula Harrison.
