Best way to buy someone a lovely night away

DH and I would like to treat our SIL and BIL to a night away for Christmas. We are thinking maybe a lovely pub B&B in Derbyshire as it's fairly local to them and they would enjoy a long walk in the Dales.

We can't actually book it for them as they are very busy people so we would have no idea when would be convenient.

Can anyone help me find the best way to do this. I've found a few websites offering experiences but they seem to be aimed at big hotel chains....

Any help would be wonderful.

Can you buy a gift voucher? If you have particular place in mind they would probably do a gift voucher for a night's stay.

I've done this a few times - it's easier with independent establishments (ie no corporate processes). Just call the place directly and tell them what you want to do. They'll give you a price and I would ask for a direct contact. I then just make up a gift voucher looking document on word saying it's DBB at X hotel.

Why dont you get a nice card and write in it that their present is a night away at XYZ and allyou need is their preferred date, you could include some nice pics of the place, the best trip advisor review etc, that would make it personal.

Thank you for your suggestions. Sounds like I'm best to select the ideal place, and either buy a GV for it, or make one.

Now off to find the perfect Inn!

That sounds like the best idea OP :)

Just a word of warning for anyone considering buying any vouchers such as those WH Smith's ones - make sure you read the terms and conditions. We were bought 6 nights worth one year (not WH Smith's, another company that I've completely forgotten the name of). In order to use the vouchers you had to pay the 'set price' for breakfast and dinner at the hotel, which was significantly more expensive than what it would be to just buy those meals there normally, and meant in many cases it worked out more expensive than just booking the hotel without the voucher. So we ended up not using them 👎
