Not to go into too much deal but I can’t spend too much on token gifts this year, do these sound ok?

  • Bottle of wine naicly wrapped for lovely neighbor who gives me veggies from her garden all Summer
  • Handmade (locally, not by me!) candle in mason jar for DS teachers (they are currently coming to our home to school him)
  • Little Xmas bags with naice hand lotion and scented antibac for the three ladies at the creche at my gym (BTW I tip them cash every time I bring my toddler in)
  • Glove and wooly hat set for my two gym instructors
  • Basket with scented anti bacs for all the caregivers at toddler’s daycare (he only goes a couple of times a month)
This would all stay within my budget but are they too chintzy/cheap?

I think these gifts are very generous and thoughtful Smile

They're perfectly nice. Only slight issue I might have is with being given hand sanitizer as a nursery worker? It's a little.. off imo.

BarbedBloom · 15/11/2018 13:24

They sound lovely. I would probably go for chocolates or something for nursery workers rather than hand sanitiser though

Lovey ideas, very practical gifts 🎁

Definitely ditch anti bac.

Agree with the above poster, all sounds lovely aside from the basket of anti bac. You could swap those gifts for any of the others.

KatyMac · 15/11/2018 13:37

As an ex nursery worker I wouldn't have a problem with hand sanitizer......

You parents catch colds from 1-3 children I could see upwards of 30 different children over a week, and each one with different germs!

Gifts for gym instructors? Is this a thing? Granted, I give my PT a £50 rather than pay the usual £30 at Christmas but I do it as a "I haven't got anything smaller on me, Merry Christmas!" and run before he can give me any change but I wouldn't buy him a present.

Ditch the anti-bac. Buy nice chocs or a costa gift voucher instead.

Thanks for the feedback! The reason I was thinking of anti bac is because they are from Bath & Bodyworks, nicely scented and cute! I thought the girls could all grab a couple. But I’ll rethink that one. I didn’t want to do cookies or chocolates because of all the food allergies nowadays and they don’t have a staff/break room. Thanks for the helpful comments!

I reckon hand moisturiser is a better shout - they must wash their hands so much.

The gym instructor gift isn’t a thing I don’t think. I’ve been taking Zumba classes with the same two instructors for five years. We are Facebook friends, I eat at one of the instructors family’s restaurant ect so I sought of know them outside of the gym. There’s so much competitive parenting where I live, I just don’t know where to draw the line with gifting Confused. My husband said let’s get a case of wine and give bottles out! Not only hideously expensive but not everyone drinks.
