Baby’s first Christmas

As per title, DS will be 11mo this Christmas and I’d love to get him something special although I know he won’t have a clue what’s going on Grin He’s the beloved first grandchild on both sides, so I’m sure he’ll be spoilt rotten... Just want something special.

What did your DC enjoy, or what special memories did you make, on their first Christmas?

Same situation here, so following with interest Smile

Awww that’s a lovely age. I think I’d go for a quality wooden truck or push along toy. Our wheelybug tiger is still loved 8 years on- and lots of animal options. A drum is also a classic gift. Or a nice Noah’s ark with animals?

Apart from a couple of good toys for sorting etc and wooden blocks in a truck to push along:

I got a hard backed edition of Twas the Night Before Christmas- which is still the Christmas Eve bedtime story (she was 12 last Christmas and still asked for it!😂)

I spent a fair amount on the Waterford Crystal decoration of the year (it was a Santa Claus) as an heirloom.

Aww how exciting! It's my second babies first Christmas also..my first child was only six months at christmas, we got him just a couple of little toys, but I wanted to get him something very special.. we got him a Steiff limited edition Winnie the Pooh bear. It was £120 three years ago and already worth £300! Its obviously not to play with. My thinking was he can either hand it down to his children when he is older or can sell it and hopefully make a little bit of money! We are doing the same this christmas for my second..hope you have a fab christmas xx

I bought my niece a personalised reindeer for her first Christmas this year. It has “dn’s first Christmas” on the tummy in embroidery.
I bought it at a local Fun Day, but they have a website too.
They had lots of different animals, but I decided to go for a Christmassy one. I may get a panda for my dd4 as well ;)
They website is here and the seller is lovely. She had lots of gorgeous things and I had to restrain myself for now Xmas Grin

We got a teddy made for DD with her old baby grows, it's beautiful. They also do Christmas themed like Santa sack / stockings etc with baby clothes

For DS1s first birthday, we bought him a wooden ark shape sorter. If I were buying now, Imd probably go for the Everearth ark with animals.

DS2 got a lovey wooden bus with peg people. He is theree now, but both him and his big brother still love the bus.

How about some toys for the summer to keep as you will get loads of things.
To mark his first christmas how about a special piggy bank to keep or special story book.

My children all have matching personalised baubles, with their name and year of their first Christmas on. They love getting them out each year and putting their own one on the tree. They also all got personalised stockings, which were bought for the youngest's first Christmas - I had a personalised stocking as a kid and loved it, so as soon as I knew I was done with having babies, got mine matching ones.

To mark our babies first Christmas we have got her a stocking with her name on it, a copy of 'Twas the night before Christmas that we plan to read each year, also a copy of The Snowman. A bauble with "my first Christmas, 2018" on it as a keepsake and a few other bits. I want to get her the muppets Christmas carol too on dvd - then these books and dvd will go in her xmas box for each year.

I'm going to start a tradition of getting her a bauble each year. We are also making a Christmas memories scrapbook with clippings of wrapping papers, and photos, gift tags, little note of what gifts were received etc for each year so I bought a beautiful book from paper chase to capture this.

We recently got our son a smartrike which seems to be a hit. Whilst they are little they sit in it with a little harness and you push and steer, when they are older it converts into a regular trike which they can peddle themselves, so they last for a few years. There are some bargains to be had on second hand selling sites too.

Otherwise books with little flaps are favourites here, as are building blocks and the walker is coming into its own now too.

Thinking of buying a scuttle bug for Christmas, they have gone down to £10 on Amazon in the past so I’m checking frequently. He’s tried these at baby groups and is very nearly big enough to use one.

Also think he might like a sand and water table this Summer but will pick one up later on so we don’t have to store it for months.

Steiff teddy bear. Pricey but excellent quality and will last forever.
