I want to do a science hamper for ds8 and would like to get stuff to make slime....I've just looked up 'slime' and now my mind is blown...

Any recommendations for key items to get started making slime?

We use pva glue bicarbonate of soda contact lense solution which has boracic acid in shaving foam and food dye. Pinterest has lots of recipes on it my DD loves making it!

I'm sure we use shaving foam, contact lens solution with boric acid, PVA glue. I usually add food colouring and glitter. Also Tupperware to store it in once made. This fluffy slime lasts ages. It looses it's puffy texture after a while but it's still great for a week or so.

Great - thank you!

Do all contact lens solutions have boric acid in? Or only certain ones?

Get elmers magical liquid activator slime stuff. £5 a bottle at hobbycraft and it gives 4 slime servings (little ticks on outside of bottle let the kids pour and measure themselves) with simple instructions of how much clear or white pvc glue to mix in. The clear hobbycraft glue is perfect because you need 1 elmers to 2 clear pvc glue to make 4 perfect batches of slime.

I pre-tried the contact lens formula beforehand but it didn’t work - I ended up using way way waay more than “few drops” with disappointing results whereas the elmers stuff was very kid friendly and worked well (we did it as a party game so I had 8 kids who measured it out themselves and each of their slime came out great.)

Word of warning, if you’re going to give out food colouring, dilute it as “few drops” just doesn’t work with kids. Grin
