Help with a nice hand cream.

Evening all

I am looking for a really lovely hand cream to buy my dm for Christmas.

Her hands have become very dry and I want to get her something that will moisturize them but I want to buy her a nice luxurious brand that she wouldn't usually buy herself.

Has anyone got any recommendations? I'm not bothered by prices either as she deserves something lovely.

l'occitane all the way - it's really good, and properly luxuryfeeling, so a real treat. buy it online, they have some stores or in John Lewis

I find Aveeno the most effective but clarins is lovely for something a bit nicer.

Definitely L'Occitane Shea butter. Fantastic stuff, though all their handcream is good. If you are near somewhere like Lakeside or Bluewater, they have stores. Online is good service too - always arrives beautifully packaged and you can get gift bags and free sample sachets as well. They often have e special offers online too.

I find the Loccitane shea butter one only suitable for use at night. It's just so heavy and greasy, I can't do anything with it on.

Clarins is a banker for luxury and performance.

Aesop all the way! The Resurrection Aromatique hand balm is the best!

Dr Haushka. The loveliest handcream ever. Absorbs well and not not greasy. Lovely light rose fragrance. Just bliss

If she is like me OP (very dry, sore hands) I can't use anything perfumed. I'm currently using La Roche Posay and that's really good. As much as I love the smell of others, when my hands are really bad I just can't use them.

Clarins Jeunesse is excellent. Also L’Occitane Roses et Reines

Drummingisfun · 07/11/2018 13:58

L'occitane en provence do a lovely rose scented one.
I bought it for my DGM for her 90th birthday.

Another vote for Clarins.

Spam88 · 07/11/2018 14:04

Another vote for l'occitane. However, I really like Liz Earle as well - doesn't leave you feeling greasy at all so good for using in the day.

blitzen · 07/11/2018 14:16

Another shout for l'occitane, probably the Shea butter one, but they do mixed scent boxes of hand creams usually for Christmas.

I have Crabtree and Evelyn Lavender and Verbena which sounds really old ladyish but is gorgeous

timeforachangemethinks · 07/11/2018 14:32

Clarins every time, ticks both boxes for luxurious and very effective and comforting

bananasandwicheseveryday · 07/11/2018 17:47

I like the moisturising effect of Liz Earle, but, I'm not a fan of the lavender scent. Also, I think the packaging looks less than premium.
I do like Crabtree and Evelyn - I have a selection which I keep in my handbag. But, the one I like most and the one I find the best is, without doubt, the L'Occitane Shea butter.

L'Occitane almond or Neals Yard here too. Lovely and very effective.

Tisserand. Smells lovely and really works. People always comment that my office smells nice when they come in after I have put it on.
