secret santa present for 1year old girl

Hi all

My baby friends are doing a kind of secret santa arrangement for our babies (except they're not secret, we know who is buying for who), they're all around 1 and there's a £20 limit.

I am stuck on what to get! I was thinking a personalised name painting but someone else is doing that for their gift in the group, and a personalised story book of some sort (not on the high street do loads) but another friend has just said she's doing that for another of the group! wish I'd just got on with it and not asked what others were doing

Can anyone think of anything good?!

I would look forward age wise

Set of Julia Donaldson books

Good set of metal children cutlery, we go a WMF set, expensive but it is a Decent one with a knife you can actually cut with and will last a long time.

Wooden fruit and vegetables with a cooking or tea set
Wooden farm animals and building

There are some lovely items you could get for that budget, what about a wooden jigsaw? www.birdkids.co.uk/djeco-puzzles/tree-house-3-layers-wooden-lift-out-puzzle/

Or a pull along toy such as www.birdkids.co.uk/wooden-toys/roulapic-pull-along-by-djeco/

Other ideas would be a cloth book, wooden blocks, bath toys.

Martin Gulliver melamine dinner set

A wooden shape sorter.

I second @reluctantbrit suggestion of Julia Donaldson books. At that age, we regularly read them to our son. He's now almost 4 and still loves them. At a young age, they like the rhythm and rhyme of the books.

A bit different but a yumbox is great for when going out as its got lots of little compartments for different snacks/lunch bits.

Or an engraved money box.

Bath toys. Stacking cups for the bath.

We were given this for our daughter's first birthday which she adored and still loves now at two and a bit. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MM6K3C0/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apa_L2a4Bb5CGP98N?tag=mumsnetforum-21

We've also got a personalised music box that she loves if you want to stick with the personalised theme! We have the non opening one. www.notonthehighstreet.com/modocreative/product/personalised-music-box

thank you all! lots of lovely ideas. I have a feeling this little girl has lots and lots of toys and books already which is why I was struggling a little bit. Got a few good potentials now though after your help :)

Gallop! is a fantastic book for that age.

I've got a baby mug with a name from Emma Bridgewater before.

Is she walking? I'm getting my 1 y/o DN a scuttle bug for Xmas. £19.99 from Smyths.

Jammiebammie · 05/11/2018 15:31

Can I just say that music box from noths is teeeny! I bought one to put in with a christening present and was really shocked at how small it was.

I love the Robert sabuda books as keepsake gifts, I bought my dd the Alice in wonderland one for her first birthday and an Alice rag doll. We used to read it to her when she was tiny and now she’s nearly 10 and it’s still her favourite book - Alice still sits on her bed book

Disney store also personalise a lot of things, pyjamas and soft toy would be nice.

ooh this thread is also proving very handy for pressies for my own 1yo DD Grin might get her a scuttlebug, she's running all over the place so more than ready! Gallop looks great too!

@jammiebammie I have already bought that Alice book for my own DD and i LOVE it! But I'm thinking she's a bit young for it, surely little ones will just tug at it rip it to shreds? I was planning on holding on to it for a few years until she appreciates it...
