DS (6) wants a remote control donut lorry. Any thoughts on where I might find such a thing please? And failing that, please humour me with your tricky requests.

When DD1 was younger she wanted a real crocodile to live in our bath and a black skateboard. Tried to dissuade her from the crocodile but she was having none of it. The closer it got to Christmas the more I panicked and the more she spoke about it. My mum took her to see some crocodiles, we were thinking of adopting one at the zoo. DD1 then decided she didn’t want one - about a week before Christmas!

Wouldn't let the children have fizzy drinks, we went to see Santa and twins were about four and a half. DS went first asked for some Power Rangers stuff. DD went up and said to Santa 'A big 2 litre bottle of coke so I can drink it all to myself'. Even Santa raised an eyebrow to that one, and I felt like a real scummy mummy.

Our youngest DGS asked for a tub of "stripey" ice cream [neapolitan] so that he could eat it all to himself.

chip fryer 'because mummy never cooks chips' (it's true, I don't encourage deep fried foods) I'm still not giving a 6YO a deep fryer though

My son, then aged 3, asked for a walking stick.
My mother had recently had surgery and was using a stick at the time and he thought it was such fun to walk around her house with it when we visited.

My nephew one year asked for a bag of potatoes so he could use them to make potato rosti all for himself.
Santa obliged along with a small bag of chocolate potoatoes from Tesco.

At the top of ds' list last year was a shiny red apple, no idea why as our fruit bowl is always filled with red apples.

I quite liked how non grabby he sounded when people asked what he wanted, he never said the rest of his list

He was thrilled it it on Christmas morning and declared it the best tasting apple ever.

White sliced bread.

It was great toasted, all we had at the time was brown, wholemeal etc.

Hoppinggreen · 04/11/2018 10:06

DS asked his Grandma for a porcupine spine last year ( as in one of the spikes, not it’s vertebrae)

claracluck78 · 04/11/2018 10:10

Well last Year Twin1 wanted a lion and Twin2 wanted the Natural History Museum. Not a trip there, he wanted us to buy him the whole museum!

bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 04/11/2018 14:55

Dd1 once asked for a wall and another year a ladder. Dd2 is the queen of asking for things that don't exist and then wanting nothing else and not forgetting the thing she has imagined. This year it is a giant lego belle castle with a garage for her car! Last year it was a rabbit teddy with an astronauts outfit with a matching one for her so they could go on trios to the moon!

An en suite bathroom and a servant Hmm

Freshprincess · 04/11/2018 15:08

DS wanted one of those DNA testing kits which tells you your heritage. Except he kept calling it a paternity testing kit when anyone asked him what he wanted.

Lol! This made me properly laugh

A wheelchair. Ds’ best friend in pre school had broken a leg. For years he would stare longingly and remark on how lucky people with wheel chairs/crutches and zimmer frames were.

Nithead · 04/11/2018 15:30

DS (4) wants "a real baby because they're so cute " for TWO YEARS IN A ROW

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 04/11/2018 15:31

About 5 years old dd wanted a teddy and immortality from Father Christmas. Thought it might be a board game but no it was to live for ever. We decided that as she wouldn't know until it was too late that maybe too risk to rely on FC for that!

MyNameIsNotSteven · 04/11/2018 15:44

Ha, these are brilliant! Thanks for the link to the Krispy Kreme lorry but he has similar - I think that's where he got the idea from.

Dd when 3 asked for a whole bag of apples just for her. Santa did bring them. She is not usually deprived of apples...

ThriftyMcThrifty · 04/11/2018 18:11

My son wanted the crane we saw on a building site we passed on his way to preschool each day. It was bright yellow and amazingly I found a working yellow toy crane in toys r us for 30quid. I built it and set it up and tied a ribbon on it - it was his happiest Christmas morning ever, five years on it still occasionally gets played with.

Nairobiblue · 04/11/2018 18:21

DS (when aged 6) asked for some BluTac one year, so he got a packet in his stocking and played with that the whole day!! Even now at 15 he loves the stuff but it's not on the Christmas list any more. Ah, simple times.
