Hair straighteners for a 13 year old

Fresh01 · 03/11/2018 12:48

Eldest DD is starting to talk about hair straighteners for Xmas. Can anyone recommend brands or ones that are good? Her hair is long and fine but a lot off it and it is quite frizzy looking, so she likes it straight and smooth......

Ghd or cloud nine are good

Theonewiththecat · 03/11/2018 14:25

Something with a black ceramic plate as it's better for the hair or something

Have a look at these. 😁

In my opinion you cannot beat Remington. One of the most affordable but work great imo. Tried many brands over the years but always go back to Remington. I prefer them over my GHDS.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/11/2018 17:51

Watching as also need to buy straighteners but not as expensive as GHD. What model Remington @JKCR2017 please?

Owletterocks · 03/11/2018 21:55

I swear by GHD. My last pair lasted 7 years of daily use. My current pair is 2 years in and going strong, they are well worth the money imo

PrincessConsuelaBannanaHammock · 03/11/2018 21:57

Another vote for ghd. I've had 2 pairs in the last 10 years, and use them almost daily.

CallMePea · 03/11/2018 22:00

I can't fault my GHDs. They've been going for 13 years without fault!

Angelcd · 03/11/2018 22:27

Id say GHD's too its all i use & they do last x

hellloooo · 03/11/2018 22:28

GHDs

MarcieBluebell · 03/11/2018 22:31

Ghds

But I'd buy some heat protection spray. I'd also explain how damaging they are to hair to her.

LockedOutOfMN · 03/11/2018 22:56

Another recommendation for GHDs. Make sure she has somewhere to leave them after use that won't scorch (or burn!) and strict instructions to check that they are left there and there only, and switched off immediately after use!

Imustbemad00 · 03/11/2018 23:14

I’ve had my ghd’s 15 years. I’ve heard they are not as good these days though

ElleMcFearsome · 04/11/2018 09:47

GHDs. I bought eldest DD a pair for her 13th birthday, she's about to turn 23 and they are still going strong (with almost daily use!)

Fresh01 · 04/11/2018 16:05

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like GHD’s are very popular.

GHDs but also buy her heat protection spray. Also buy a product that prolongs the time straightened so she only has to wash/straighten about twice a week, stopping some damage.

Pinkyyy · 04/11/2018 16:56

GHDs are definitely popular, but pricey for a first pair. I have a babyliss pair I've had for too many years and they're absolutely amazing, the barrel is rounded so they are perfect for curling too. I have GHDs too and can't tell a difference. Mine are so old they don't do them anymore but these look pretty much the same-

GHD

Worth every single penny.

MorningCuppa · 04/11/2018 17:04

I agree ghds, I've had my current ones for 7 years and there still going strong, I use them most days. Well worth the money.

Fstar · 04/11/2018 18:14

Love my cloud nines

Creas35 · 04/11/2018 18:21

My GHDs have lasted 10 years

ToastyFingers · 05/11/2018 11:30

Ghd/cloud 9 or accept that you'll need a new pair roughly every 2 years. My ghds last about 10 years a pair. Before that I'd tried various babylis, Remington, Nicky Clarke etc. Ones and none of them did a good enough job or lasted very long. My hair is incredibly thick and curly though.
