I'm looking to buy a family member an Elephant Christmas decoration (new or used) like the picture, but can't seem to find any for sale in the UK. Sad Can anyone help?

Have you tried tk maxx? They often have American style Christmas stuff.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 02/11/2018 20:54

This US company will ship to the UK, no idea how much it costs though.

Got all the way to the checkout page for that one Dinosaur but it's going to cost me far too much in shipping costs Sad

You could try ringing here tomorrow.

These are the people who make the larger elephant and other smaller brush art decorations.

Maybe a really lovely helpful person will happen to just have one lying about? :o It's worth a try.

Not being funny but if you really want it just pay the £20 shipping.

If you went to a city centre shopping centre you’d pay a fiver to park, buy a coffee and a cake and something else you didn’t need and the £20 would be gone 😆

IceRebel · 03/11/2018 08:11

Right i'm up and ready to head out to TK Maxx, so finger crossed there, if no luck i'll try ringing some of the other options you have found. Smile

Deminism the one looks like they only ship within the US, I can't seem to get a shipping quote for the UK.

Bear I really don't want to pay nearly 3 times as much as the item costs for postage, at least if I went into town I would enjoy the coffee and cake. Grin

DS has a few of these bristle ornaments, mostly from M+S

ScreamingValenta · 03/11/2018 11:19

I'd be wary of buying from the US as the parcel would have to go through customs and it can take ages.

IceRebel · 03/11/2018 12:44

No joy with TK Maxx, or the sites who sell similar. I hadn't thought of M+S so that's another option, thank you Oldraver

It seems like the shops here sell hedgehogs, squirrels, birds, mice and foxes, but America have more exotic wild animals like lions, elephants and giraffes.

I am hoping to avoid buying from America if possible, because of the insane shipping costs, but that's another excellent point screaming

You’d be fine with customs as there’s no charge on anything under £15.

Would you buy it if the costs were reversed ie the item was $26 and the shipping $10?

Can you tell I’m the queen of justifying costs like this to myself?!

Got a Zoo/wildlife park near by you? I've bought christmas decorations from our closest zoo before so might be worth a phone call/visit.

Deminism · 03/11/2018 23:57

I had never seen these before today then noticed some in a shop today (a visitor centre in a forest). No elephants though.

IceRebel · 04/11/2018 08:09

Unfotunately no zoo or wildlife park nearby, but that's a great idea.

Thanks for thinking of me when you saw them @deminism There seems to be loads of cute woodland animals around but a distinct lack of wild animals, surely there must be an elephant somewhere.

How about this fro Paperchase?

IceRebel · 04/11/2018 15:21

Thanks for the link Chippy it's a lovely decoration but wouldn't suit the others my family member already has.

How badly do you want it?! I may be able to get one for you, have a friend going to the states with work soon. Could get it shipped to her office, she can bring it back to me (in Ireland) and I could post it to you Smile

IceRebel · 04/11/2018 17:05

That's very kind of you Carrie but it sounds like a lot of work for yourself and you friend, and I really don't want to put anyone out. Thank you so much for thinking of me though Smile

Not sure if you're aware but they're called Buri Brushart elephants, if that helps your google search :)

IceRebel · 04/11/2018 18:51

Thank you @Callmepea that helped a lot, i've found a few more leads and have emailed them. My fingers are crossed.

Thank you for posting newtothis like others who have posted it's a lovely decoration, but not the type i'm looking for.

2 replies to my enquiries today, and both have said unfortunately they no longer have any in stock. Sad

have you tried this site?

www.fiddlecreekfarms.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=11953

its says they are made in the Philippines -- do they have an ebay!

IceRebel · 05/11/2018 19:36

I'm not sure if they have an Ebay, I've been in touch with most of the sellers on there who are in the UK and sell similar animals and I don't recognise their name.

That website has been linked before and unfortunately they only ship the the USA and Canada.
