Gift ideas for family (young children)

Looking for gift ideas for a couple (late 20s) and their 2sons (3 & nearly 1).

I would normally get individual gifts for the boys and generic chocolate/wine for the parents but want to do something a bit different as the boys have so many toys/books/etc already and they will obviously get a lot more at Christmas.

I'm thinking that some sort of day out/activity would be nice for them to do as a family. I've got a limited budget (£50) so have been looking to use Groupon/Wowcher/etc. to get more for my money but am just struggling with something suitable for all age ranges.

Can anyone recommend a day out/activity/experience day for the family? They live in East Midlands area and regularly travel to visit friends/family long distance so travel time should not be too much of an issue.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Those type of gifts are a real pain. Often you can’t do them at weekends. You have to top up in some way. They are time limited.

Great gift we had one year was the big a gift family day out it's £29 often discount codes available... we had it and the person put £25 in with it for treats on day out.

We visited wonderland in Telford which is great for small children and an hr from east Midlands

Unsure if Gulliver land do gift vouchers but one in Milton Keynes and one in matlock and great for small people too

360 play centres seem to be popular you can buy a 3mth play pass

Or a family ticket to Thomas the tank engine land in Wolverhampton- not far from East Midlands- two small boys would love it

If you bought a day out to somewhere like a zoo, I am guessing that the little ones would possibly get in for free, so you would only have to buy two adult tickets.
You could also maybe do a family hamper, with a dvd, book of the film, popcorn, chocolate, pjs for the children.

If they have a soft play near by what about vouchers for there? That way you can still do a nice bottle of wine alongside "for after".

Do they like gardening? You could get vouchers for a fruit tree. Or a garden game which will prove useful over time.

I'd personally avoid groupon etc as the dates can be so limited

What about pizza express vouchers? Or another child friendly restaurant? £50 would cover a family meal.

The space centre, in Leicester? The sometimes do a deal ( or they did at least a couple years ago ) where if you buy a day ticket they upgrade it to a year pass. I believe children under 4 or 5 are free.
Twin lakes is a good one. Or something like a trampoline park. We have a couple near me.
Alternatively, could you make up a nice movie night hamper? Popcorn, dvd a nice blanket, sweets and treats.

We have really appreciated getting cinema tickets vouchers - it's so expensive to go. The 1 year old is a big small perhaps but.... you could buy x in gift vouchers and the add a big bag of popcorn and sweets to make it a gift you can wrap.
