Nightmare Secret Santa

Poor DH has his BIL (his sister's husband) as his Secret 'Santee'.

Said BIL is miserable git who doesn't eat much, works in high pressure job, doesn't drink, well into cycling but hasn't been since their DS was born a year ago.

Things we know he doesn't like:

Food
Booze (more than single glass of whatever)
Clothes (frumpy at best)
Making effort or conversation with family at events (unnecessary dig!)

He's also bald so no posh hair stuff / beard oils or whatever.

To make it worse, he had him last year too. Bought him an Alexa thingy and didn't hear a word of thanks. Apparently when DH went round it was still in the box.

Budget £30-40.

Help! [santa]

What does your SIL buy him?

hereandnowtoday · 01/11/2018 20:41

Wiggle voucher?

PhilomenaButterfly · 01/11/2018 20:43

😂 at combustible toilet! I would not sit on that!

Alanamackree · 02/11/2018 06:26

exploding toilet

LadyGAgain · 02/11/2018 06:40

Hamper - cheese, biscuits, chocolate, luxury food that no new parent ever think to buy for themselves! Cans of beer/small bottles of wine or fizz. For the ONE drink.

Panicmode1 · 02/11/2018 06:41

Are they near London? I bought my DH a voucher for a track cycling session at the Olympic velodrome at Lee Valley and he loved it. (He's more of a road/tri cyclist but really enjoyed the challenge).

justilou1 · 02/11/2018 06:43

Honestly, such a beige individual deserves a bloody gift voucher. He’d probably be thrilled.

wewillrememberthem · 02/11/2018 06:44

An engraved posh pen?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/11/2018 06:44

Or tickets to a cycling event at the velodrome? They have loads of international competitions on. (It seems, we’re going in December)

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 02/11/2018 06:55

Something from fat lad at the back, a tongue in cheek cycling brand!

FieryGhoulie · 02/11/2018 08:17

I'd go for cinema vouchers. Who doesn't enjoy a night at the pictures??

LotsToThinkOf · 02/11/2018 08:22

*SputnikBear

LotsToThinkOf · 02/11/2018 08:24

A posting fail sorry!

Sputnikbear thank you for the Rapha suggestion! Ive never heard of it but have a family member who this is perfect for!

OP, I'd go for an experience type thing or a voucher towards one. Or even some sort of plant or tree.

CarrotVan · 02/11/2018 09:13

Woolovers jumper, socks

Ask his wife if there’s anything they’d like for the house that would be suitable to give him

Takemetovegas · 02/11/2018 09:25

Just get him socks.

BooEekCackle · 02/11/2018 09:29

Panicmode, the voucher you bought for your DH, was it the £20 voucher to use the bike and helmet and go round the track for a bit?

My is an ex Triathlete/ Ironman (too much stress on knees and joints after 7 years) but is still mad into cycling. He would love that. He is always banging on abut how great the velodrome must be.

Hezz · 02/11/2018 09:31

Fuck it just stick £20 in a card

PhilomenaButterfly · 02/11/2018 09:54

Or that exploding toilet Alana! Shock

WineIsMyCarb · 02/11/2018 15:47

Tempting Hezz!
DH hasn't had a reply from his DSis yet but I'm also thinking posh socks, nice jumper etc. Also is nice excuse for me to go to tkmaxx - love that place.

Is it bad that I don't care enough to investigate tickets to the velodrome? Lovely idea though - that's probably the nicest suggestion @Through

@booeekcackle (hope I've done that right!) it was £40 and was an hour's track taster session I think. He is also an ironman and takes his cycling very seriously, and thought he'd hate it, but he said it was really exhilarating once he learnt how to ride without brakes!!

GVmama · 02/11/2018 20:54

Can you (or someone) set up an Elfster list, do everyone can give gift ideas? Then you just give him whatever he's suggested!!

LongWalkShortPlank · 03/11/2018 09:57

Get him a nice camelbak bottle, fill it with some sort of treat he likes or something a bit difference like chocolate covered coffee beans and then shove a £20 amazon gift card inside which will bring you nicely to your budget!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 03/11/2018 10:19

Fosca tops are great, they are a bit pricy but they have good sales.

The velodrome is a great idea, one of my friends got given it as a present last year and loved it.

goose1964 · 03/11/2018 12:22

Something like these , he can then boast in work about his cashers socks.

www.sockshop.co.uk/shop/mens-socks/material/cashmere

This is a boring but luxury present , I bought myself some Cashmere socks from TKMaxx last year and they're amazing

WineIsMyCarb · 05/11/2018 05:59

Thanks guys. The message back from DSil was that he wanted an alarm clock (what a treat!) so DH hitting amazon. I'm not a cyclist but would have much preferred all your suggestions to a new way of getting up in the morning, but there you go. Thank you all anyway Flowers
