Christmas Cake recipe suggestions

Am not normally a cake maker but started making Christmas cakes about 4 years ago.

So far I have only used Delia’s classic recipe. It is quite light and I would prefer something more dense and rich (nostalgic for the cakes of my childhood).

Can anyone please recommend a good recipe?

I'm a definite Delia's cake maker!

This is the best and easiest recipe I've used www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1160/simmerandstir-christmas-cake%3famp

It has to be Nigella, I've been making this cake for years: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2011/nov/02/nigella-lawson-christmas-cake-recipe

Ill second the bbc good food one - I’ve been making that for many years and it goes down well!

This is my favourite; really rich and moist. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/nov/27/caramel-christmas-cake-recipe

I've never found Delia's to be light but then I soak the fruit in booze for at least a week and DH feeds it once a week from, usually, mid October to Christmas, but I'm late this year.

Felicity Cloake in the Guardian - it's Google able. And definitely Nigel Slater 's home made marzipan.

This one is a bit different with the figs in and is delicious: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/13381/fig-and-honey-christmas-cake

I follow the pink whisk recipe - you start the fruit soaking at the end of the summer holidays, cook it at half term, feed into December when you decorate. Manageable chunks that don't take long.

I've been making the same Nigella recipe that HereandNowToday shared. Really fantastic. Always goes down well and remains moist even if you forget to feed it...which may have happened to me a few times!

I use this James Martin one from BBC good food. Love it, so simple as there is no pre soaking or creaming involved, but the result is delicious!

What about Delia's Creole Christmas cake? I just made 2 of these in the last few days and they came out really well. They are in the middle I think, not too heavy nor light.

Take a look at the Be-Ro one, I tend to use sherry and soak my fruit beforehand though!
