Help! Struggling with gifts for nieces and nephews!

I'm struggling with gifts this year. Not a very close family so Im on my own to pick out gifts for my nieces and nephews. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
I have 2 nephews one 8 and one almost 10. They both like football but I have bought alot of football related things for them over the years so not sure what's left to get!
I've also a 12 year old niece and an 18 year old niece. What brands are teenager girls in to? My 12 yo niece doesnt wear make up but likes nail art, fashion and unicorns. I generally spend around £30-50 on each of them. Any suggestions appreciated!

What about football strips for the nephews? They grow out of these so quickly so even if you’ve bought some before they’re likely to be too small now anyway.

18 year old:
One of the Benefit gift sets or a set of Mac lipsticks, plus a coffee voucher?

Lego set each for the nephews.
Other ideas: guiness book of world records or ripleys believe it or not book; watch; whatever number chart toppers CD we are up to (now 100 maybe)

Essie for the 12 year old

Benefit or Mac for the 18 year old. Lush gift boxes always seem to be popular too

Adukt type colouring book of unicorns and some gel pens / sharpies for the 12 year old

Thank you for the suggestions so far please keep them coming 😁

My stock answer to this is to ask their parents - they might already have a list and would welcome some help with things they know they want or need? I do this for my nieces and nephews and others ask me for our children. My daughter loves makeup but likes mascara from one brand, lipstick from another and foundation from her another! She'd appreciate anything of course, but better for the giver and the recipient to hit the nail on the head!

I always ask their parents/they all make lists (then vetted by Sis) then I choose from there.

My DSs favourite present when he was 8 was loads of packets of Match Attax and a big bag of sweets Grin

My 12 yo DD loves Kawaii, most animal stuff eg money box where panda’s paw grabs it, stationery - most stuff from Typo etc

BeaLola · 30/10/2018 18:15

12 yr old niece: stationery - next have advent calendar of stationery , they also have nice initial notebooks, and unicorn bits and bobs. - btw lovely unicorn wrapping paper in their 342

18 yr old - would ask them direct

Boys - my 10 year old loves getting Guinness Book of Records or Ripleys book, he also loves stationery ! He loved the £20 primark voucher my friend gave him as he likes buying his T-shirt’s from their. He likes Harry Potter so have bought him themed clothing and lovely dressing gown from their too - I would ask parents in case there is something desperate they want that parents wouldn’t buy them but you could .

Apologies - typing whilst cooking

I think when you don't know them well enough to be sure of making the right choice then gift vouchers are probably best. Yes, I know they're not the most personal and thoughtful gift but they will have their own specific tastes and with vouchers you know they'll get to choose things they really want. Taking a chance with a ten pound gift is one thing but it would be a shame to spend £30 - £50 on something that may not be used/played with.

I'd ask them or their parents about their favourite stores or buy one for a shopping mall if there's one reasonably close to where they live.

bookmum08 · 30/10/2018 18:34

Just ask their parents. Seriously. Rather than getting something random.

Angelcd · 30/10/2018 21:18

I give my brothers kids £30 each and a little gift to open for the older ones and pjs and blanket for the younger ones.
If u gave money they can get things they want in the sales x

Selfie ring light for 18 year old :) About £6, leaves some for vouchers.

Almostthere15 · 31/10/2018 20:31

If the nephew's are in the same household, what about tickets to a football ground tour/match (the latter would only be in budget for lower leagues).

I would be tempted to do department store vouchers for the girls.

Iv got an 8 + 10 yr and this is some popular stuff they love - slime making kit, nerf gun, magazine subscription ( I'm getting this year Simpsons comic for one and quiz kids puzzle book for the other. Lots of football ones about or general "boys" ones like Gaming. About £35-40ish for a 6 month subscription, I'm making up a small hamper of sweets etc and first magazine to go in and note to say subscription.) board games - dragonworld, exploding kittens, forbidden island, Star Wars/Harry Potter risk, look at national geographic sets - volcanic making kits etc, knex rollercoaster/Ferris wheel , hot wires set.
