Can anyone please recommend a machine that takes Nespresso pods but is cheaper than a Nespresso machine? Thinking of getting DH one for Christmas.

Nespresso do a scheme where you can buy a machine for £1
Depending on which machine you buy you then have a monthly subscription (12 months)
I pay £18 a month for my monthly subscription and this is credited to my account each month and I buy my coffee with the credit
You don’t need to spend the amount each month but can save it up and I think there is a time limit to spend but it’s around 2 years or maybe more
Have a look i their website as it explains it in more detail

Lidl are advertising a coffee machine that takes nespresso pods too this week.

Thanks both, they’re great suggestions, will look them both up now.

Just remember that there are two different types of nespresso pods now - the original thimble shaped and a new round flatter shape. Make sure you get the right machine for the pods you have.

Oh blimey, good tip thanks!

The original shaped pods are out of patent so you can easily buy pods from supermarkets etc

This is a massive advantage because the coffee is far, far nicer than the official Nespresso ones, and these pods are usually cheaper, and best of all, there are now several companies selling biodegradable pods because the plastic and aluminium pods are an environmentally horror show

The aftercare is pretty good with the nespresso machines also, and it's very easy to buy spares
I dropped the milk frother a while back and cracked the lid so it was unusable
But it was easy to order a new one from their website

My concern with a Lidl one would be that if anything broke, you wouldn't be able to fix it or buy spares

Can you not get a coffee grains machine instead? Those pods are so bad for the environment
