I realise this is a very first world problem to have!
I am hosting Christmas this year. We have my sister and her family coming from abroad who will be staying at my parents before Christmas and then coming to us on 22nd until 02 Jan. My parents will join us for 24 - 27 December.
I work f/t and will be working until 21st so have placed my Christmas order with Waitrose for 10am on Saturday 22nd. Family are arriving that afternoon. I usually order with Tesco but they hadn't released their slots when I was trying to get everything sorted.
My father is currently quite ill, hopefully will be better by Christmas but no guarantee. My mother is suggesting that, if he hasn't recovered by then, we have a back up plan of an early Christmas meal at my parents on Saturday 22nd. Then my sister and her family will come to mine on Sunday 23rd and we will have Christmas as normal minus my parents.
So, I went to see if I could change my Waitrose slot to Sunday morning in case we have to go to my parents on the Saturday but there are no spaces left. I went onto Ocado and they have lots of availability on the Sunday morning. I've therefore placed an order for Sunday morning with Ocado but haven't yet cancelled the Waitrose one on the Saturday. My worry is that I have no idea how reliable Ocado are for Christmas deliveries. The last thing I want on the Sunday is half my items missing so I end up having to go to a supermarket anyway. I could stick with the Waitrose order and, if it comes on time, still get to my parents for 1pm (they are 90 minutes away). But if Waitrose is running late I can't. Plus I'd quite like to try to get to my parents earlier than 1pm if possible.
So, do I stick with Waitrose or go with the Ocado slot on the Sunday? Has anyone any experience of Ocado over Christmas? I hardly ever use Ocado so don't have a feel for how reliable they are. I need to free up one of the slots as I'm sure other people are trying to book.
