We've had playmobil the last few years but I think she's getting too old for it now (sob).
She's not into jewellery or make up but loves crafty stuff.
Smiggle seems expensive.
I don't really want to make my own although I knlw that would be much cheaper.

Is a £1 chocolate one not enough?

Twork · 24/10/2018 20:03

We consider it one of her gifts.

What about just a chocolate one?

Twork · 24/10/2018 20:03

It's one of her gifts.

X post. You can get all sorts of chocolate type ones. I saw a malteasers reindeer one ( not sure of price!) reeces, Thornton’s with her name iced onto it...?

Twork · 24/10/2018 20:06

We don't want to get her a choc calendar but thanks for the suggestion.

You get fancier chocolate ones. Mine like the Lidnt ones - think some of them are £10

My 8 year old DD is getting Lego Friends and we have a homemade one that I put little sweets and chocs in. She loves advent calendars Smile

newcat · 24/10/2018 20:07

£2 Cadbury one from Asda.

ProudThrilledHappy · 24/10/2018 20:09

You can get one that gives you bits of a charm bracelet to make bit by bit?

dementedpixie · 24/10/2018 20:17

How much are you looking to spend?

MeltingWax · 24/10/2018 20:22

DS has had the Smiggle advent calendar for the last 2 years and has asked for it again this year (he will be 10 in January). I have made bespoke ones for DD for the last 2 years and always end up spending more that way. Tinc also do a stationery one & have heard good things about that one.

My two loved the smiggle ones last year but some of the contents were a bit wierd - eg a glue stick. Okay we use a far amount of glue sticks but it wasn't very thrilling to get. We clubbed together and brought x no &got a discount. Both kids had put smiggle on stuff on their Christmas stuff and so it felt like it ticked lots of boxes. It worked out cheaper than buying the individual items but you can get cheaper glue. This year I've brought lots of bargains and am doing our own. Will include some simple chocolates etc so it's worked out mega cheaper and they are getting what they will like.

Lego, Smiggle, Acessorize, barbie or Tinc all look good.

PiggyPoos · 24/10/2018 21:15

I get toy calendars and take it from what I'd spend on presents as they absolutely love them.

I find the what's wrong with a pound one the worlds gone mad comments really quite annoying.

Dd had a Playmobil one at 8 ( but that was the last year) . The last 2 years she’s had Smiggle, but this year at 11 is over Smiggle!! I have looked at loads and finally decided on a Body Shop one - a lot more expensive but like yourself it comes out of her present budget so to speak. She doesn’t know what I’ve chosen until Dec 1st and I did give her the option to have an extra present or an advent calendar. Bomb cosmetics do one which is just bath bombs and soaps if you think she’d like that sort of thing?

XiCi · 24/10/2018 21:25

Is she into lol? There's an lol surprise advent calendar www.argos.co.uk/product/8638357

My dd loved the Smiggle one last year and I've heard good things about the Tinc one.

jelliebelly · 24/10/2018 21:27

Tinc and smiggle both hits in this house.

DaphneFanshaw · 24/10/2018 21:29

We get the Lego one, although at some point (before next next Christmas) I might buy a felt one and put little bits and boobs in it, packs of sweets and other twee shit.

Twork · 24/10/2018 21:47

Just looked at the contents of Tinc but she already has what I guess are the "big" gifts and what justifies the cost.

I suspect she would love a bath bomb/soap one. Thank you for that suggestion!
