With pay day looming, I've been thinking about booking something for us all to do around Christmas time.

Children are primary age, we are roughly close to London and open to any suggestions.

Like the look of Kew Gardens - anyone been?

Kew is amazing for any age and keeps getting better each year.
Hever Castle is magical
Bateman's in East Sussex
Canterbury Tales, Kent
The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead

The lights at Blenheim are lovely, if you feel like going a little further afield.

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/10/2018 21:45

That looks lovely too. Decisions decisions...

Hampton Court? We were there last year and my stepdaughter loved it all. I’m going back this year now that they’re older. The river was so pretty. Or Winter Wonderland is supposed to be good.

In London, ice skating at natural history museum, Somerset house or Tower of London

MrsJonesAndMe · 27/10/2018 08:03

Half the family are rubbish on skates, the other half just a bit better Grin

Thank you for all of these suggestions.

Kew is lovely,
Christmas lights london bus tour?
Winter Wonderland?
London zoo are doing something this year possibly some sort of light trail?
Thames River cruise with santa on board?
Neighbourhood cinema in Covent Garden?

We went to Kew on the first year , I've read the reviews that it's improved which is good because it was distinctly under whelming the first year.

Winter Wonderland is mad busy , we went three times , the last time we said 'No More' . Also very ££ , IIRC £4 adult £3 child per ride , might be more now . Very muddy , lots of people with dogs and buggies so hard getting about.

Duck Tours were brilliant but I think they've stopped them now?

I really fancy the IMAX , I keep checking what's on.

We went to Kew a few years ago and we were also distinctly underwhelmed , probably didn’t help that we had only returned from Disneyland Paris the day before . When we went the Christmas stalls were basically all just selling mulled wine and the actual cafe was filthy .

Chessington Christmas is brilliant, only a few small rides on but zoo and sea life open, Santa was good and there was cookie making and some other activities too (I can't remember what but enough to fill in two days with an 8 and 10 yo)
