Help with present idea for a couple

Need your help with ideas for a couple in their late 50s please. Budget c £25 but can go over for the perfect idea. He works for Waitrose so plants/drink/food ideas are out.
They don't have any particular interests. In the past we've done meals, board games (adult DCs come home for Christmas), cookery books, other books, scarves, toiletries.
I don't want to do vouchers or charity gifts.
Any thoughts?

Posh candle.
DVD of recently released film, with maybe the book too (if there is one!).
Big jigsaw for the family to do together.

Thank you Leeds2.

I don't think most people have a dvd player any more.

Subscription for magazine or something like "gin of the month".
Cafetière with nice coffee.
Some lovely tea/coffee cups.

Thank you all. Please keep the suggestions coming as threads like this help others Looking for similar ideas. I do appreciate all your ideas, not sure any of the suggestions are right for this couple but I can use some of the ideas for other people

I've done cinema ticket vouchers before, in a gift bag with a bag if posh popcorn.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/10/2018 10:47

Thank you. They are regular cinema goers so that would work, but also something they do anyway so wonder whether that's a special enough gift? They're not short of money so not like it would help out in that respect

(Not being ungrateful by rejecting some of these suggestions but have been through all the ideas in the past and eithe bought or decided against for good reason)

One of my favourite ever Christmas gifts was a picnic basket. Couldn't wait for spring to arrive to get out for a Wind in the Willows style picnic by the riverside. They can be purchased for around £25 on Amazon.

What about a lovely little night in for 2 hamper? Wine, cheese and nibbles or coffee, syrups and choccies?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/10/2018 11:50

I like the hamper idea, but as he works in Waitrose they get all that kind of stuff cheaply. Maybe I should just do something like that anyway. I think for this couple consumables are better than other things they don't want or need, just don't feel it's that special when they get good quality foodstuffs at a discount anyway

Also, the wife isn't very mobile due to ill health, which is what's making me double think the picnic set. Bit then they do go for drives out so maybe that is a good idea

Even though he works in Waitrose, he might not treat himself to those bits often.

I do little treat hampers for people who are more difficult to buy for- FIL, brother etc. Just tailor it to what they like. Local farm shops can be a good place to pick up bits as they often have things that you wouldn't see in a supermarket.

grannyscobwebs · 19/10/2018 11:56

You can also pop to your local florist once it's done and they will cellophane wrap it for next to nothing.

Bluebell9 · 19/10/2018 12:55

Tickets to a show/comedian?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 19/10/2018 18:35

@grannyscobwebs they always have tons of Waitrose goodies in around Christmas!! But you've got me thinking that because of having Waitrose discount they maybe don't have stuff from other places like M&S. might have an online browse and see what M&S do that W doesn't.
Thanks for all the great suggestions.
