When DD was 11, she got an iPad and a seriously heavy duty case for it.
She gets at least 1 book every year, and now she's older, I'm trying to get an interesting novel to read and something non-fiction of interest (in her case, books about sailing technique, or real life sailing stories, are good, and she has an interest in cooking too so a cookbook of her own is likely this year, aged 13).
And also the usual fruit and sweets in her stocking.
Again looking back to 11, the Christmas editions of Match (soccer mag) and Beano were in the stocking. A few joke things (a fake nose, a Horrid Henry practical jokes "kit"), a couple of craft bits (a scratching pictures kit, and a mini pack of modelling clay), some silly putty (great for fidgeting), a spinning top.
A bag tag as she was starting to travel more and sometimes having her own bag (it was from the animated film about 5 emotions and a girl moving city...) and a set of Minions stickers.
A nice girly lush shower gel - as she was starting to get interested in her own toiletries and stuff there too. (We're still not at the point of needing cleansers etc, and nowhere near makeup yet either - but they may well start to be added in as she gets to that point, and I know she's later than a lot of her peers in that but just not interested and her skin is still perfect).
Harry Potter colouring postcards
A lego city plane (a €20 set that went well with existing city things)
The usual pyjamas (Harry Potter ones) and Lush festive bath bomb on Christmas Eve.
Last year, aged 12:
Our present to her was clothes
Her "big" presents were things for her sailing dinghy, and a waterproof Bluetooth speaker to use on the water.
In her stocking, she got things like a mug with all the sailing flags on it (as she's drinking more hot chocolate and tea now, so a mug of her own is nice),
Her name in lights to hang in her room (battery operated set), and her initial shaped post-it notes for small notes (studying etc).
Some marbles, a Nutcracker floppy toy, Minecraft dog plush toy, Globe stress ball, 2 reading books, small HP jigsaw, clip on light to read in bed
The usual fruit and sweets
A human biology set.
Some lego (again 2 mid-sized sets) and some "lego" tape.
So trying to get things she'd be interested in and make use of, but also a few fun bits still.
