Has anyone used a wrapping service?

Tempted to offer one this year as I love wrapping and wondering how much people pay for it?

I have just spent 20 mins wrapping DS' birthday presents in xmas wrapping and am feeling festive!

Watching with interest as I love gift wrapping and have often been told to start up a business but didn’t even know if this was a thing!

NameChangeCuddleBums · 13/10/2018 21:02

I haven’t used one but I totally would, I am just not good at wrapping. I would pay more for more elaborate wrapping and less for basic.

I am not sure what I would pay but I would be more likely to pay an amount for however many presents rather than pay individually.

I offered my services last year on a local Facebook page but didn’t get any takers!

I did wonder about insurance etc as I remember a tv programme about scammers who pretended to wrap gifts but sold them and replaced the boxes with similarly weighted objects like potatoes Grin.

Wow melon! People are so innovative!!!

I would so pay for this service.
£1 a present?

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 13/10/2018 21:21

I can imagine this being a great time saver- I’m very very lazy so if you charged £1 an item I could very easily justify £15-20 to free up the two evenings it normally takes me to get everything wrapped myself (I’m a dry slow wrapper though!)

I work in a very large, well known shopping mall in the south east and at Christmas they offer a wrapping service. Relatively basic paper and a ribbon and starting prices are from £3.50-£8 and that depends on the size on the item and not the quality of the wrapping. HTH

hidinginthenightgarden · 13/10/2018 21:23

Yewnicorn I think it would depend on how many presents you had, if I had to pick up and drop off presents then petrol would cost extra plus the price of wrapping paper.
I was thinking of grading it on how many presents.
Under 5 presents £2 a present
5-10 £1.50 and over 10 £1?

No, and it's not something I would dream of paying for, I'm afraid.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 13/10/2018 21:27

Think before you offer pick up and delivery- it might be more of a pain than it’s worth, especially if someone wants a large present wrapped.

hidinginthenightgarden · 13/10/2018 21:32

I know Penny - but are they really going to want me in their house?

I live on a very new housing estate that is huge and has its own facebook page. I may just post in there as it will be easier.
I might not do it at all!

I have a lovely friend who does this. She doesn't work, her children are at school and she wraps presents beautifully. Every year she puts a post on Facebook and people take their presents and the wrapping paper to hers. She does it because she genuinely loves wrapping and likes to help people. All she asks is that people make a small donation to Cancer Research in memory of her mum. She's raised loads of money like this over the years.

feliciabirthgiver · 13/10/2018 21:38

Would definitely pay, I hate it!

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 13/10/2018 21:44

Get them to drop everything to you!

I’d gladly do it- mainly so DH wouldn’t find out Grin

AtSea1979 · 13/10/2018 23:41

No I wouldn’t pay someone to do this. However the shopping mall in my town usually has a charity wrapping service every weekend in run up to Xmas and I take a few things i’ve bought that day and make a small donation. Only a couple of pounds.

buscaution · 13/10/2018 23:47

Absolutely not. Only a fool would hand over all of their Christmas shopping to a complete stranger!

morekidsthanhands · 14/10/2018 00:11

I think you would need a lot of reviews and references...though until someone posted it I would never have thought it would be a scam!

I think it's a brilliant idea and if money wasn't tight it's something I would use for sure :)
