Hoping I get enough traffic here as I've searched high and low on the tinternet

I am wanting to make my children there own advent calendar however all the empty ones I've seen can maybe fit a tiny chocolate in.

I want one big enough to put pens in, bath bombs, that sorta thing.

Any ideas?

How about the fabric ones with the pockets?

LetsHaveAnotherGo · 12/10/2018 20:09

One of the best things I've seen is a shoe organiser you know the hanging type with the pockets?) and numbered cards slipped in! Then the treat is hidden behind the card Smile
I say every year I'm going to be organised enough to do one....

Makower make fabric panels that you can see, I’ve made the stocking ones. Quite a lot of cutting but not tricky.

I couldnt find one either so i wrapped everything up in christmas paper and put it all in a reuseable bag and said to chose any one thing each day, she loved it

What a good idea

I got a brilliant one from Matalan last year, snowy housed theme with lights. 24 drawers which are a decent size. Was very reasonably priced but don’t know if they are doing similar this year, might be worth a look?

AliceRR · 12/10/2018 20:41

Last year I got one from M&S that was little square pockets hanging from string and that had space for a bit more

flowerlamp · 12/10/2018 20:47

As kids my brother and I had a little Christmas tree each with hand sewn Christmas stockings on and in side each one was a clue as to where our little present was. Ie- it's hidden somewhere cold so a fridge or freezer for example x

mummaoftwoboys · 12/10/2018 20:49

Got a nice one in hobbycraft today, was only £5. It's not reusable as it has the perforated doors like a normal calendar, but the spaces in the tray you fill are a really good size. They are available online too.

Rednaxela · 12/10/2018 20:57

I am having the exact same dilemma!

duckling84 · 12/10/2018 21:13

Last year I used these www.gingerray.co.uk/make-your-own-christmas-advent-box-kit-red-gold.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwjIHeBRAnEiwAhYT2h548WqDCDdBiDymCnIForyJUGSJJjDSURDVisfG4q2sylO9r5GMlWxoCYXMQAvD_BwE and they were really a decent size. But not massively reusable for next year (depend son how gentle your child is)

Thought I'd attach a pic as my description made it sound rubbish....

fruitpastille · 12/10/2018 21:27

You can put in a few small things eg chocolate, stickers, rubber. If you want to give something bigger then put in a card saying 'present' and have the bigger things wrapped in a separate gift bag. Personally I think less is more when it comes to advent. Save the excitement for Christmas!

Penguinbeaver · 12/10/2018 21:30

I'm going to make one from Lego bricks

maddjess · 12/10/2018 21:42

Had the lookfantasic calendar delivered yesterday and would of been flippin perfect!!

I used these last year, used clues for gifts which didn’t fit but it was a fun challenge finding 50 tiny gifts! Tiny jams, Christmas pudding shaped chocolate balls, chocolate money, rubbers, stickers, tiny tree decorations, all sorts! Really enjoyed making them and filling them and we strung them up the stairs so they looked really pretty too.

Enjoy!

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/10/2018 21:49

In the January sales I picked up some wooden reusable house ones with drawers. You’ve reminded me to find them in the attic and start buying tiny gifts Smile

WhyDoesItAlways · 12/10/2018 21:53

I got 2 fairly large fabric ones in tiger last year for £5 each. One was Christmas tree shaped and the other stocking shaped.

I have seen ones that are 24 mini stockings pegged to a piece of string/ribbon with cute tiny pegs.

maddjess · 12/10/2018 22:06

Think I'm gonna go for these.

I'll have fun decorating them and can stack them up nicely on kitchen display unit thing
