So I’m trying to think of ideas to get our two girls for Christmas. Both girls have birthdays before Christmas and I was thinking about getting a big swing set thing for the garden for Christmas but I have no idea how “Santa” could set it up before Christmas Day morning. Any ideas?? Thanks xx

definitely not ideal, but anyway you could set it up on christmas eve? maybe you could get the girls settled in bed/watching a film and then sneak out and set it up? if not, then maybe you could get them out the house for the day, and cover the windows with christmas blankets? not the best ideas sorry!

We got our dd’s a trampoline one Christmas but unfortunately we had a horrible storm on Christmas Eve an we were unable to set it up for them for Christmas morning. Wrote a letter from Father Christmas explaining that he had bought them a trampoline but the elves were unable to set it up because of the weather and daddy had been asked to set it up for them when the weather was better. They were so excited to get the letter that they were not upset that the trampoline couldn’t be played on.

We're thinking about buy swings for our girls too. Working out how to build/wrap is what's putting us off!

Could you build it before Christmas Eve and then dismantle it again? Then, you’d have figured out what you need to do, so you could build it on Christmas Eve without having to decipher the manual or go hunting for an obscurely sized wrench in the dark.

I wrapped a trampoline in plastic table cloths taped together (double sided so seams didn’t show) with a contrasting colour cut in half lengthwise and taped into a long strip for a bow.

I’d probably keep off one swing seat and wrap it up and put it under the tree. There could be a lot of head scratching working out what it is, and how silly Santa was, etc. leave a carrot in the garden for Rudolf the night before and go see if he ate it and enjoy the excitement!!!

We’ve done this with both a swing set and a trampoline in different years. I’ve taken the kids out Christmas Eve afternoon (or my parents had them for a couple of hours). Swing built in back garden while they were out - it gets dark early in late December so as long as they are back after 4.30ish it’s fine to have curtains closed before they get in.
