Hi everyone, I’ve has some great advice on here so far for Christmas for my almost 3 year old son. I’ve pretty much sorted his Christmas presents now but I still gave his birthday at the start of January. I’d like to get him a trampoline. He loves going to the trampoline park and playing on his cousins when he goes to there house. He’s had one of those mini ones with handles from the age of one but we are now ready to upgrade. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Plum is a decent brand.

One person only on the trampoline, no toys or balls. Enclosure zipped up always. You know this already tbh.

IME avoid Asda.

  • The ‘easy to collpase’ net is anything but this and you need two adults on stepladders both sides of the trampoline at the same time

  • They sent a ripped cover - 6 mths later.....still waiting

Look for the surface area for the actual jumping rather than the entire size. We chose one where the netting went inside of the padding. Less risk of catching body parts than ones where netting is outside of the padding.

Buy as big a one as you can fit. IME 12 ft is about right. Ours is 14/15 and does take up a lot of space but has had 8 years of play and is still going strong. Also buy a decent one, the old adage of buy cheap buy twice is definitely true of trampolines that will be left outside in all weathers. Mine is German so I can't help with brands but I have also heard that plum is good.

We've had a supertramp trampoline for about 5 years and it is fantastic. We bought it on a recommendation from someone who'd had theirs for 20+ years and it was still going strong. Ours is 12 feet, I wish we'd gone bigger to be honest.

Thanks everyone. Interesting everyone is saying to not get a cheap one and go as big as you can! I though with him still being little I’d get a smaller/cheaper one and upgrade in a few years. But thinking about it I may as well spend the money now. Do you have to cement them into the ground?

We were recommended jump king ( but not the one they sell in Asda). 8 years laters it's had a new net but is totally sound other than that

Funny, but I came on to say don’t go too big. I’m very strict on the one-at-a-time-zipped-enclosure and it’s just easier to enforce on play dates and with visiting family members who should know better when there isn’t the room to really enjoy it. Plus there isn’t enough bounce for back flips. I’m obviously a professional killjoy though Smile
Our one is “power” brand, it was 3 years old when I bought it and we’ve had it for another 3. Outdoors all that time, used every day and still in excellent condition.

How much does it cost to buy?

loubielou31 · 08/10/2018 21:39

Jump king is the other brand, I couldn't remember the name. I haven't enforced the one at a time rule. I have taught them certain games that are fun but safe(ish). Other children sitting cross-legged and one jumper has to try and bounce them around until they fall over and their favourite thing is chasing me round and round in it. I have fairly sensible girls and they are not daredevil types at all. We haven't had any serious incidents. You have to know your children. My friend's sons try to leap on to theirs off their raised decking so ...
