Presents for DC who don’t need anything

My DC are 8 and 6. They want for nothing, have so much Lego that it’s becoming a nuisance and stacks and stacks of books. I don’t know what to tell family members when they ask what to get. They don’t need anything and it seems mad that I’m wracking my brains to think of more things they don’t need. I know they’re young enough that receiving presents is still magical and don’t want them to miss out but it feels so wasteful. Any ideas of what I could suggest to well-meaning relatives?

There are some great ideas on here! Do they need anything for their bedrooms, duvet set/lamp/shade/themed print or picture for hanging/clock/new curtains. Outdoor toys often get forgotten about - ball/bat/boules/kite. Kids gardening equipment- seeds, gloves, pots for their own things. Swimming clothes or toys, new backpack, pencil case etc.

Bedroom stuff? Duvet cover, rug, cushion, hot water bottle in a theme/character they like?

Lunch bag & bottle

Cinema/soft play/trampoline/climbing voucher

Swim kit-bag, swimsuit, towel, goggles etc

Sports stuff - shin pads, long socks, tennis balls

Bath stuff - bubble bath, bath bomb, bath toy, magic flannel

Baking stuff - reusable cupcake tray, cake mix, sprinkles, apron

Craft stuff - small kits, pens, colourful paper, stickers

Clothes - pyjamas, dressing gown, hoodie

The best present my 7 year old had for his birthday was an mp3 player. Very small. Can always add extra music as a present. And he loves it.

No idea what to get him for Christmas though. He has lots but doesn't play with it.

He will be getting a sports bag too.

@TchoupiEtDoudou what player did you get?
Currently DS1 uses a free iPod nano DH won at work and DS2 uses mine from my running days. Both pkayers are about a decade old.......Would love to have something a bit more user friendly for both of them!

Experiences, eg tickets for a show, if you have the £ and they like theme parks, you could book a mini break at one for later in the year and wrap up something that tells them they’re going?

And I would maybe involve them in some kind of children’s charity Christmas project too, the met police one is good if you’re in London.

Money for holiday spending?

Something for outside such as scooter, bike, space hopper, skateboard.

Theatre tickets.

6 month/annual pass to your local cinema.

The fire bowl looks great, thanks for the thread.

Money towards a game console and games?
A globe
Puzzles
Craft sets as others have said are always good
Personalised items
Money boxes
Bike/scooter accessories if they have them (eg. Bell, horn, wheel covers, helmets)
Dress up clothes
Just add water flannels/ wash MIT's are always great
Silicone baking sets with cake mixes could be fun too!

My DD loves her cheap step counter watch, it means we can go for long walks and we take bets on how far different sections areGrin we get a nice walk and she’s not moaning as she’s occupied. Banggood .com had a few choices.
