I've been to one in Berlin years ago and Brussels a few years ago too. Also the one on the South Bank in London. Just wondered where you think good ones are, at home or abroad? I am owed a weekend away by dh (as in, he has kids I get to go away) and happy to get a train within Europe if doable, but also happy to stay at home if anyone can recommend a good one.

My best friend is from Nuremberg, Germany and reckons theirs is the best in the world

A friend went to Bath last year & vowed never again! Way too crowded.

PhaedrasChocolate · 26/09/2018 23:51

Manchester is brilliant, with Birmingham a close second.

Never been but I imagine Exeter would be nice because of the setting on the Cathedral Green. Any cathedral city would be good I guess.

Prague is fabulous.

Do you live near London?
I would take the Friday off, travel to Bath after work, get up early on the Friday to do the market slowly before it got too busy.
You could revisit some favourites on the Saturday morning.
Check the rugby schedule. It's a small town. This causes gridlock. Fab if you are a rugby fan or running a café but can be a bit surprising if you are not!
In Bath you can go to the spa on Saturday afternoon - book an appointment to beat the queues and for essential relaxation.
It's one of those places where you can go to virtually any restaurant on your own and feel comfortable, especially if you eat early.
IME it's the best of the markets within c 90 mins of London.
Second choice is York. York's market isn't as great but the town is a truly magical place.
Winchester is scarily busy. Very cramped. I'd never go back at that time of year.
I find Birmingham too big as a whole but that's probably because I live in a village Grin.

I second Prague, it was magical but so so cold!
