I have a 7 year old DS. He loves Lego and stationery. We have tonnes of both.
He also has previously enjoyed a build your own robot kit . He likes science stuff. So is getting a couple science kits.
Any similar ideas? He will also be getting more Lego. Any ideas for small Pokémon bits?
He has the big bits like a tablet, bike, big scooter and a small scooter.
Any help greatly appreciated. He seemed so disappointed with his gifts last year despite me following a list so want something he wouldn't have thought of but would love.

Have you seen Geomag?
It's expensive but good fun. You have time to look out for a good deal.

For Pokemon bits, my DS will be getting a new album to keep his cards in. Poke balls and little Pokemon figures have gone down well with DS.

Wish.com can be great for Pokemon stuff - plushies, Pokéballs etc, but don't buy the cards from there as they are fake and all the kids seem to know. So I would spend some money on a tin of real Pokemon cards and a proper Pokemon folder to put them all in, you can get them in Smyths.

Pokemon onesies went down a storm in this house last year, I got pikachu ones in Penneys/Primark but you can order different ones online. I also got the Pokemon encyclopedia book for DS for his birthday, it has every Pokemon and their backstory, it really is total nonsense but he loves it and spent ages going through it.

Does your DS make his own Pokemon cards? All my sons friends do. If he does you could get him some decent markers/pens and card cut in to Pokemon size, we also let DS laminate the cards he's made that he wants to keep forever.

I hope you manage to get some bits for your son.

Pokemon mad DS1 will be getting some of the battle figures, Pokemon headphones (to use with his 2DS), and annual and colouring book - all in Smyths. He’s asked for pjs too.

Argos has the poke balls that pop open for £4.99 at the minute. DS has those, as well as a folder for the cards.

We have magmagic whichhas been well played with

Does he have a microscope? It’s got a lot of use in our house; not constantly but in bursts every few weeks. You can even take pictures of your grossly magnified bodily fluids on a phone to show off at school Hmm

DS8 has a pokeball guess on his list. There’s probably a newer version because I picked this one up reduced in tesco.

For kids with too much lego I always recommend books like
creations with ideas for bricks you already have
Or this contraptions book that comes with a few extra bits to build different projects. It’s the kind of thing you need to sit and work through together but it’s great for showing new and more techniques this is similar.
Or there’s movie making with lego if he’s patient enough for that.

Pokemon trainer guess is well loved here.
Ash's battle arena challenge also gets a lot of use.
Wish.com are great for plush pokemon but the plastic figures are pretty rubbish.

You can get nano block pokemon which are like tiny lego. Fiddly but fun. Also Google mega construx.

Pokemon clothes are always well received too.

Also my DSs (8 and 6) both love those kits where you 'mine' for gems/dinosaur bones/break open geodes.

OhTheTastyNuts I’ve been looking at that Pokemon trainer guess thing for DS. Might have to add it to the Christmas list!

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 23/09/2018 12:36

Wow thank you all. So many great ideas. Some things I haven't even heard of. Will have to try to Google tonight.
I didn't know making your own cards was a thing but it is definitely something he would enjoy. He is sick today so might suggest we make some.
The Pokémon Lego type things he will love.
Thank you all again. Off to browse wish.

There's some Pokemon manga books and chapter books. My dd loves those. Also plushes from wish. Her favourite is the build a bear teddies. She has jigglypuff and the new snowy vulpix on her birthday list. She likes playing Pokemon games on her 2ds.

If he likes Pokemon has he seen yo Kai watch? That's fairly similar and dd loves it. (Plus there's some cheap merchandise around - I got the watch from toysforapound for £5 And the figures with discs from Poundland).

If he likes building how about making a Lego table/storage system? Loads of ideas on Pinterest using Ikea trofast or their £5 tables.

I keep reading a lot about magnatiles/mag creator. I'm not sure if 7 is considered too old though?
