Toy Garage?

Can anybody help me find a good toy garage? Ive been looking for months but none seem to fit the bill.
Ds is 3 in January. He gets very fustrated if toys dont work as they should or come apart constantly when hes playing with them so it needs to be very sturdy. Most that ive seen appear to be quite small so dont think they will have that wow factor on Christmas morning.
So basically very sturdy and idealy quite big with a few layers to play on. I cant think of any new ways i can search toy garages on google so will be grateful for any suggestions!

We had an ELC one which was big.

In fact it's in the attic and I've been trying to palm it off on anyone who would take it...

Strippervicar · 20/09/2018 22:29

I've ordered this for my DD. She is coming up to four though. I figured no parts on the ramp to come off.

I like the vtech toot-toot garage. They are really interactive, and can be connected to loads of other buildings with extra track, making a massive city. You could also get the parking garage, the repair centre or car carrier to go along side it and make it look bigger.
We have 2 fire stations, the repair centre and loads of track, plus the train set with train tracks.

Also, the old style vtech garage has 3 levels and a lift, you can still get it on amazon

@Strippervicar I love the wooden one! Unfortunately ive learned the expensive lesson of if its not plastic, loud and ugly my ds isnt interested.

Ill take a look at elc and toot toot, they look like the kind of monstrosities garages im after.

Defo toot toot then if he likes loud, our farm toot toot track gets unhooked a lot.
Mine used to get annoyed at loud too, especially if unexpected (Peppa Pig's spave rocket I am glaring in your direction) so we seem to have a lot of no noise toys.

Mrsfussypants1 · 21/09/2018 00:11

I'm sorry I can't post link, but I love Indigo jamm raceway garage. It's British made, lovely colours ( soft turquiose, white, grey with hint of red) and it's wood but they use plastic ramps as it gets a better speed for cars. Fits hot wheels type or wooden. We are finished shopping for little one and Its now top of my list for next birthday present. Available from mulberry bush and few other retailers, but cheepest ive spotted it is on amazon for £75.

Ricekrispie22 · 21/09/2018 05:24

If you want something big, then look at the Chad Valley deluxe 5 level garage. There are some large Hotwheels garages but they might be a bit too delicate for a 3yo. The Tobar Ferrari Parking garage also looks good.

Camomila · 21/09/2018 08:47

I'm also on the lookout for a toy garage for for Christmas for DS age 2.5.

He'd love the toot toot one now but It does look quite 'babyish' so I'm dithering over getting something more grown up looking so he'll still want to play with it when he's 5 or 6.

PermanentPortakabin · 21/09/2018 08:56

Mine have the kidkeaft mega ramp racing garage. Mix of wood and plastic, has most features a child could want (multi story, lift, racing ramp, traffic lights, car wash) and allows a good range of play (complex garage set ups, or just noisily crashing down the speed ramp).

I always the toot toot stuff never stayed together and my dc got frustrated

bluechameleon · 21/09/2018 09:22

We have the plan toys garage and it is lovely, very sturdy. There is a whole range of roads, railway, shops, airport etc to add on for further gifts in the future too.

Equimum · 21/09/2018 14:13

It’s not exactly huge, but after a bad experience with a Le Toy Van garage, we bought DS2 the Brio garage. It is brilliant if you have a train set, as you can link it up, and load cargo onto trains through a drop-thingy. It is very sturdy, and the bits all work very well. It walks fits to wooden road track, and is suitable for both wooden cars and Hotwheels type. Best of all, my five year old also loves it.

PiggeryPorcombe · 21/09/2018 14:31

Ds is nearly 12 and this from ELC was the best thing we ever bought him. He’s had it since he was 2/3 and still gets it out occasionally. It’s great as it has roads and ramps and folds up into itself for storage.

parcelandpeony · 21/09/2018 14:35

We also had the wooden Plan Toys garage, it's good sized and great for all sorts of cars and trucks.

marmaladecats · 21/09/2018 14:49

DO NOT get the Le Toy van one. www.amazon.co.uk/Toy-Van-Wooden-Grand-Garage/dp/B001UHMTYW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?psc=1&keywords=le+toy+van+garage&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1537537520&sr=1-1-spons After much research and deliberation I bought it last year for my son's 3rd bday. Within two months the plastic ramps had broken and the top one snapped away from its screw which holds it on to the top level. Meanwhile in my family we still have a (battered but perfectly functioning) 40 year old fisher price garage. Has survived decades of play. If I was searching again I'd look for the vintage FP one on eBay.

Fishandthechips · 21/09/2018 15:23

Thank you everyone! @marmaladecats definately wont be going for the Le Toy Van one then. I actually wanted one in the style of the vintage Fisher Price ones but they dont seem to make them like that anymore. Shame, I remember me and my sister playing with one for hours!
I think im going to go for the elc one, that is if it comes back in stock any time soon or it will be back to the drawing board!

Definitely the elc big city garage. Dd had it when she was little and it was very sturdy. If looking for the same one now for ds (dd is 14, ds 2 hence why we got rid many years ago) but elc don't sell it but there is one on Amazon. www.amazon.co.uk/Early-Learning-Centre-Figurines-Garage/dp/B01M0FLF93/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537550708&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=elc+big+city+garage&dpPl=1&dpID=512Sbxtu8kL&ref=plSrch

JKCR2017 · 21/09/2018 18:43

Take a look on ELC. A bit pricey but fab products and good quality items!

Alanamackree · 22/09/2018 22:17

this is not quite a garage but thought it deserved a mention

Pinkyponkcustard · 22/09/2018 22:22

We’ve got the toot toot one, it’s quite babyish looking, makes horrendous noises and comes apart really easily. Defo not recommended for a 3 year old.

1stTimeMama · 22/09/2018 23:09

Toot Toot is so flimsy, you can sneeze and it falls apart, and it takes so long to get it together and steady, that the children are bored of it. It's my biggest toy buying fail!

duckling84 · 23/09/2018 08:55

Alternatively there is also this one garage

Redgreencoverplant · 23/09/2018 10:30

Toot Toot is a hit here but beware your house may end up looking like this Grin

Redgreencoverplant · 23/09/2018 10:30

Surprised by the comments about flimsiness we have had no issues with our Toot Toot.

Fishandthechips · 23/09/2018 13:47

@Redgreencoverplant that is really quite something! But omg the thought of having to put that all away again at the end of the day makes me shudder!
Thank you to the person that linked the elc garage on Amazon. All ordered, heres hoping ds likes it! Smile
