Hi there, I am vising my lovely in-laws this Christmas in Doune and want some ideas on where to take my children (5yr old boy & 3yr old girl) whilst there. I would love to make it super Christmassy so any grotto ideas or must do's that people know about, I would love to hear :) I am happy to dive to locations, but no more than an about hour though pls. Thanks you in advance for any help XX

Google Santas woodland experience in Balfron, I haven't been but it is very popular and has great reviews.

You'll probably get a better response if you post in the Scotsnet topic Smile 🎄

Also Dobbies just down the road is nice to visit anx has a tea room

If you neex christmas shopping a trip to Livingston is about an hour drive. Edinburgh and Glasgow about an hour by train. Stirling rown is also quite good.

I was also going to suggest Dobbies. There is usually a leaflet nearer the time with events on in Stirling. There is usually some craft things to make lanterns and a candle light procession and they usually have reindeer at the light switch on but that might be too early. I think dunblane usually have a nice craft fair and the panto at the macrobert is usually brilliant but the macrobert also generally have another nice christmassy theatre thing on for young children too.

you could drive through to glasgow and go sledging on the slope at braehead. Unless of course we have the same amount of snow as last year....

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/09/2018 10:52

They have a slope that you can do Ringo/skiing on at tillicoultry as well. And skating at the Peak, think they have those penguin things for the little ones to hold onto.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/09/2018 10:54

I'd also consider jumping on the train to Edinburgh for the day as they have loads on, even my weegie friends like it! Grin

The under 5s Christmas show at the Mac Robert in stirling is always magical.

Fun Santa experiences include at the Falkirk wheel and BoNess steam railway...
