I'm looking for some inspiration for my ds.
He has a lot of toy that I would say are suitable for toddlers but his play skills are advancing now I would like to get him some toys for his next age bracket.
All of his toys are suitable for baby dd to play with expect Lego so it would be nice for him to have something of his own.
As I say he already has Lego, I don't really want to get any character toys as his favourite character changes by the week.

What have you bought that has lasted?

A good train set is always nice. A bike or scooter. More advanced jigsaws and books. Craft stuff.

If you have the budget, magnatiles are amazing! But don't get less than the £100 set. We asked for money from family towards it.

Train set vote here too - we have a wooden train set that can easily link to other sets like the ikea packs of wooden track etc. Then DS wanted the Thomas Super Station (gulp) for Xmas he was 6. It's plastic track but does come with a connector to traditional wooden track. We now have loads of track all looped together and DS still loves it 3 yrs on. DS is almost 7 now.

A train track sounds really good. I could get a big box and I think wilko do pieces. I don't have an ikea near me 😩

In his school report it says he enjoys small world play and construction

I have 3 boys and non have been fussed with their trainset, but they use their lego for small world play. But at 4 happyland is still great for that kinda thing, or any figures on their favourite tv shows. Playmobil will also be fab for small world play

This might help thetoptoys.blogspot.com/2018/08/best-train-sets.html

Magformers are good and will probably end up with the great great great great-grandchildren. Baby proof too.

At 4, my DS is moving away from big cars/trucks and towards smaller ones. I got some jigsaw road mats from Amazon and he absolutely loves them. Tends to add his various other toys (playmobile police station, firemen sam garage) etc round the edge of the mat to make a big town.

He also has an obsession with motorbikes (big ones, small ones ,noisy ones, real ones....)

Play kitchen stuff has been a success since my 2 were under 2 years old and they are now 7 and 4 and still playing with it....my 4 year old brings me a "menu", writes like a waiter then goes and cooks me stuff. And I get to stay on the sofa Grin
