Hey,

Has anyone been to anywhere amazing to see Santa? We are Glasgow way and happy to travel up to two hours probably, each way, for something really really great!

Kids are 10,6&5.

Thanks

Was the Santa quite believable? I thought the prices for the regular Santa visit were quite expensive as I watched a YouTube video of the local one.

We took dd to Loch Lomond Shores last year. She was to wee to know what was happening but I loved it.
Especially the train ride to meet Santa 😂😂.
Breahead was also good.

Goulding’s on Clydeside is good and we usually go but I wouldn’t say it was totally amazing. Decent for what they charge and there’s a wee bit with rides (too small prob for a 10yr old though) and stuff at the end that’s all included.
We’ve also done the woodland experience thing in Stirlingshire. You get a tractor ride into the forest and you get to Santa’s cabin...all the kids then ring the bell and you go in a gather round while Santa talks in his living room. It’s really nice (the present wasn’t that great though). A nice touch was that he Had a list of the kids names in advance and gave them all a book wrapped up to go under the tree. Then some fake snow outside, photo then back on tractor. Ours loved it.

Oh actually the steam train in Aviemore is good too!

sleepismysuperpower · 02/09/2018 21:04

my 2 dc were younger, 3 years old, and both found him believable. however, that was a few years ago so the santa may have changed etc.i would watch a youtube review. :)

Santa train at Bo’ness is fab. Need to keep an eye on their Facebook page for when tickets are on sale though as it sells out within a few days normally.

They decorate the train and have a Christ singalong on board and Santa walks through and takes time chatting to every kid. There’s a wee stop for hot chocolate and normally the local guides selling Christmas goodies as well.

Blizy · 02/09/2018 21:15

Balfron Santa is amazing, woodland winter experience I think it's called? you need to act fast though I bought tickets in June!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/09/2018 07:03

Edinburgh's Christmas has had a really good Santa got the last couple of years. Can combine with a wander round the rides etc.

MeMyselfand · 03/09/2018 07:13

The farm park in Ayr has a great santa, just how you inagine him to look with a Mrs clause too. You can spend a full day there seeing the reindeer and small animals, they shut the outdoor park in the winter but lots to do and play on inside. They even had an appropriate present for my 14 year old at the time which she loved (hates missing out on anything)

Heismyopendoor · 03/09/2018 08:06

So many good ideas :) we went to Edinburgh last year but the Santa was sold out so we ended up in Jenner’s lol he was a good Santa but just a Santa, no experience as such.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Thanks for the link Fstar
I'm going to book. It looks great.

Ledehe · 03/09/2018 14:31

Yes Santa's Woodland Experience as mentioned above. Went last year it was amazing. We went during the day but this year i'm going to try for tickets when it is dusk/dark as the woodland is all lit up

Rebecca36 · 03/09/2018 14:56

News for you - Santa does not exist! Your youngest may be hanging on to the belief but the other two are too old to be believing in Santa Claus.

MeMyselfand · 03/09/2018 15:01

Rebecca36 who shat in your kettle. Did santa not bring you a Mr Frosty

TeeniefaeTroon · 03/09/2018 15:11

The Santa at Edinburgh's Christmas was absolutely fab, looked so much like the real thing.

Heismyopendoor · 03/09/2018 15:21

Where abouts is that one Rebecca? Does the train take you to see the Grinch?

I feel like you have had a moment like Neil in the Santa clause movie, where he didn’t get a toy whistle one year and that was him. Destined for a life of sadness and was a humbug. His fashion sense wasn’t great either I must say.

I've just booked the woodlandexperiences.
Can't wait to meet Santa 🎅🎅🎄❄

Isadora2007 · 03/09/2018 21:14

The Santa at the Scottish deer centre in Fife is lovely. 🦌

stroan · 03/09/2018 21:22

Another vote for Woodland Experiences, it’s fab.

There was a brilliant Christmas event at Kelburn Castle last year. Hard to explain - it was an interactive journey through their woodland trail, loosely narnia themed so we had to defeat the Ice Queen. It was so brilliantly done with lighting and actors. Santa was there, but not the main event, and kids got a small gift at the end.

Your older children might like something like this?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 03/09/2018 23:17

That's a shame Edinburgh Christmas Santa was booked up last year. Jenners' really doesn't compare. Over the last two years, Edinburgh Christmas Santa has been brilliant, really authentic. Best one we've seen. I'm a bit gutted that DS for the first time probably won't believe so we probably won't go this year.

Heismyopendoor · 04/09/2018 07:06

stroan I’ll take a look and see if I can find that. They’ve never been to Kelburn before :)

what the Jenner’s Santa was very good last year. He was very realistic and good with the kids. But I’m just looking for more of an exeperience as such. I priced up Macdonald Aviemore, but that was just ridiculous money lol.

I remember as a kid going somewhere and you went on a little train, and there was a carousel inside a giant tent filled like a Christmas wonderland and I’m sure
It had reindeers, but I don’t know where that was and don’t think it exists any more lol
