I know it’s early but looking for ideas. Dd’s 12 and 14, both ASD, both non girly. Dd1 is asking for a Nintendo switch but I have no idea about games consoles and it seems very expensive, dd2 changes her mind like the weather but isn’t really into anything. Both have iPads, dd1 has a phone (dd2 more severely autistic can’t use a mobile). Dd1 says she doesn’t want clothes. I don’t want tat in the house so possibly a subscription to something or annual pass to somewhere.

There are some lovely monthly craft boxes would they like something like that x

Lovemusic33 · 02/09/2018 14:42

Possibly, both dd’s A bit arty, though dd1 has dropped art at school (going into year 10), she likes to draw rather than make things.

What’s your budget?

I think as an additional thing you could get an iTunes voucher.

Obvs fun stationery etc

Are they into any sports?

Or roller skates for 12 year old? This has nothing to do with me just seeing some retro roller skates on insta...

DS (14, ASD) loves his switch - and if she has peers who also have them it's a nice easy social route ime.
What are their interests? Annual pass to a theme park? Tickets to a play (Wicked is a nice one for teen girls imo in terms of it's messages - we just saw everyones talking about Jamie with a 12 yo and a 14yo who both loved it)? Harry Potter World? Membership around an interest (DS is an RI member as he loves science, and that's been great for us, but it only really makes sense if you are near London...) Something techy (e.g. raspberry pi kits) or crafty (half decent sewing machine?)

Dd1 likes music, would probably like iTunes voucher.

Neither are sporty due to them having some mobility issues. Dd1 has friends who have Nintendo switch (which is why she wants it).

My budget isn’t huge, there’s a chance I can get a Nintendo switch funded through family fund, other wise I can’t afford one as they are just under £300 without a game?

Budget is around £100 each.

Dd2 is probably more tricky due to her being more severely autistic, she breaks everything, she likes theme parks but we don’t have any near by so a pass probably wouldn’t get used enough. The only pass both of them would get use out of is Longleat.

iTunes can be used for apps/games too

Do they like the cinema or they find it too loud?

What about monthly subscription boxes so they get something everymonth?

MiddleClassProblem · 02/09/2018 15:17

I had a lava lamp around that age

MiddleClassProblem · 02/09/2018 15:20

Does the older one like reading? Maybe a kindle?

Lovemusic33 · 02/09/2018 15:21

One likes the cinema so it’s hard for me to take her (cinema is too far away for her to go with friends).

We have had larva lamps and various other novelty lights.

I think a monthly subscription would be good. Is geek box any good? (For dd1), and maybe a foody type box for dd2? She loves to attempt to cook.

Have a look at this site:
www.allsubscriptionboxes.co.uk

Lovemusic33 · 02/09/2018 15:33

Thank you, will take a look. I have found a subscription called bakedin which looks perfect for dd2, a cake recipe every month and ingredients, she will love this.
