Stocking fillers.

I'm stuck on stocking fillers for 3 year old DD and 8 year old DS. As cheap as possible.

I once read on here, for filling stockings -
Something you want
Something you need
Something to eat
Something to read

For the DS’s who will be 5 and 7 we’ll probably get:
Woolly hat and gloves (with whatever character they’re in to)
Lego blind bags, or one of the smaller sets they have in plastic bags for about £3 in Tesco
Playmobil figure
Comic
Chocolate Santa
Sticker book
Chocolate coins
Novelty pen for 8yo
Novelty pencils/crayons for 5yo
Pokemon figures
Magic flannel
Joke/magic tricks - whoopee cushions were a major hit last year

I do something a bit like the something you want/need/eat/read thing.

My categories are cosy/cuddly (something like warm socks, or a teddy), crafty (art stuff or a craft kit), Christmassy (usually a Christmas themed book or DVD), chocolatey (usually chocolate coins or a chocolate orange) and "characterful" (something related to a favourite character - has been things like Disney underwear in the past.)

Stockings are the easiest bit for me.

(Then) 8 year old Ds2 is getting

A mini Newton’s Cradle
A stikbot dinosaur surprise egg
An MP3 player so he can listen to music in his room (no iPads allowed after 4.30pm) the MP3 player cost $3 from aliexpress and seems pretty decent.
An iTunes voucher for his iPad
Top Trumps
A packet of orbeez
Gel pens
And then the obligatory satsuma, net of gold chocolate coins etc

Will probably add a new hat with a favourite character on top of the stocking as hats are compulsory in term 4 and 1 here and his current one is looking a bit tatty

I always find stockings quite easy to do as they tend to be small or useful things I can pick up all year round, blind bags of whatever they’re into that I’m usually forever saying no to. Shower gel, picked up a few end of line ones for 20p in the supermarket, dd, nearly 5, likes hair stuff and rings and the small beanie boo key rings. Christmas socks bought after the previous Christmas and stashed away all year. Some small form of chocolate. Sainsbury’s have some nice stationery stuff reduced for going back to school so nabbed a few bits there. A magazine or similar in the hope of keeping them in their rooms for a bit in the morning. Ds had a joke book last year, very cheap from the book people.

TK Maxx have a couple of small nano block sets really cheap that ds (8) was admiring the other day, will pop back tomorrow in the hope they’re still there.

I do try to get similar or equivalent things for both of them. Stockings I can go overboard with, it’s the main presents where I struggle.
